I recently put a 16 tooth on the front its a much better bike to ride on the road now and maybe I will join the 20kms /L ???????
    been fiddled with a tad....
the mods that would help fuel mileage...
MM high 2 into 1 pipe..
    2 stage K&N air filter..
    Air box snorkle removed...
O2 senceor set at 16... 10/12 is standard..
    TPS set at 12....
Kev fuel mod... Is a adjustable nob to add resisstance across the
air box O2 sencor..to trick it into thinking the air
temp is hotter or colder than it is...

What Yamaha's book of words don't tell the home fidder..

both the O2 & TPS can be adjusted though the insterment panel...
& theres also a rev counter in there for setting idle...

Key off... hold both buttons down... turn key on..keep holding both buttons down
till the adjustment mode comes up.... " The rev counter only works in adjustment mode"
turn key off to exit adjustment mode.... "new setting will remain"....
theres also a lot of error codes in there to let you know is there a prob
with any of the injection componets....

    Try here http://www.xt660.com/site/node/78

    It has a 22.5L Gilimoto tank..gives just over 500kms..

90% of all Harleys built are still on the road... The other 10% made it back home...

GS Adventure has been getting more and more economical as I run it in... only got 48,000km on it so far. Usually between 5-5.5L /100km. Tootling along as part of a group on Sunday I had it as low as 4.6L /100km. Still had all the luggage on etc.

    Thanks for the info .
can you do the computor adjustment you mentioned with out messing the exhaust system and airbox or maybe just the airbox i don,t want to get to involved with spending to much on this bike then turn around and sell it , sometimes its cheaper to put alittle more $ in the tank

just air box mods give 4hp..
just removeing the snorkle is worth 0.5 hp...
with out putting it on a dyno to know for sure...
My bike should be 12hp up on standard &
the surgeing has been reduced by 80/90%...

What mods give what amount of hp for the XT

The Vee has averaged 6.3L/100km over the 8k I've had it. Changed the pipes a wee while ago and I may (might be too soon to say for sure) be getting slightly better. It definitely likes the go juice if given a workout.

    Ktm690

I'm pretty impressed with the economy of the 690, considering it has twice the power at the wheel compared to my previous XR650L...and still can does regularly 20K/litre (the XR did 15K/l) worst I've done is 16K/litre...and can eek out to 21K/litre when slabbing it.

I seem to get around 22 km/l on my 2011 690 in all sorts of riding except really slow grovelling. Better than my DRZ400 was. And I'm taking account of speedo error too by checking against GPS. I don't know how KTM managed to make it so frugal. Impressive and useful considering how small the tank is.

yes...mine also did that originally. I forget to mention that I've now had the akra race map loaded, and opened the air box, and have the leo vince muffler.

When I changed the muffler, the bike worked ok but would stall around or just off idle and was just to lean. Once the map was installed (just paid for an hours labour for the shop to install it) it hasn't done it since. The diffence in economy is just that extra richening from the new map. ITs a good upgrade for sure.

    funny...but fair :-)

I don't think I can share that much in an open forum, if everyone knew the secret, then its not really a secret...but maybe you need to share your tips and technique for regularly breaking chains - that takes some special riding for sure maybe the two are related...?
