Current licence label not affixed in prescribed manner

$200 - bugga. It would seem that when I was putting in the new licence I've overlayed the old one over the top of the new one. I will write a letter to explaining this. I wonder how that will go?

Was the new expiry date still visible? Take a photo or two as proof if it was and pester them until they let you off (may take a lot of pestering).

Nah it was just one on top of the other, just the wrong way around . I was just saying to the missus that I'll take a photo and send it off to them along with an explanation... I may just be able to manage a little pestering for a short while

Why on earth did you still have the old one at all ?
Oh hang on are we talking 4 wheels and one of those pocket type label holders?.. but you're still supposed to throw the old one out.

Show them evidence that rego is up to date. Gestapo can't ticket if there is uncertainty. They aren't the cops and have not taken said oaths.
Tis the law I was told.
Its the same with wheel clampers.

Sorry Bro, but your've no show....

Case in point, a friend with terminal cancer was at the docs in nelson & had made the same mistake. She wrote in explaining her mistake & that the vehicle had current rego & warrant. No Mercy was show.

Whereas myself with no current rego showing, but it was in the mail due to being applied for online, was enough to get me off my ticket for the same offence.....

There's genuine honest mistakes (case in point) and there are assholes trying to freeload (like me and my bike at winter time ).

I had my tag fall on the floor in the car a few years back because of the shitty holder. Got off it. I was prepared to argue as well. I was gonna say I will follow the person and make sure their's is always shown. Unfortunately it never came to that.

I would be very disappointed if they didn't let you off . Reminds me of how mum's make us feel like shit. haha. It is a genuine mistake. If anyone mentions you should take the old ones out so you don't have that problem you can just mention then you come to the other problem of them falling out all the time

Nah 2 wheels. Come out of AA, take panel off of license cover, slide back on again, forget until letter arrives in post. Bugga as it runs out in 24 days.

well here's some fun facts to keep the rest legally out of trouble.
It is illegal to have your old vehicles licences in the pocket thing as so many tend to do
& it is illegal to put your new licence in before the month it is due to start i.e. it is illegal tp put a vehicle licence due to start on the 2/2/12 in your pocket on the 29/1/12

Go figure ay, you now know 2 more legalities you probably didn't know before
