    Sport tourer?

I have a harley and hate it....rides like a tank and takes and age to slow down....Not to mention is a hugger and i look rediculus on it.
I have been looking at the VTR 1000 and like it but i prefer the full faired bikes.
Im a big guy so needs to be around the same size as the hyo gt250/650r but have heard bad things about the gt650r and thought it might be lackin a bit on the long rides, which i will be doing plenty of. Loved my gt250r excellent bike, missed it ever since i got rid of it.
    Any ideas?

Have a ride on a Bandit, either 650 or 1250
beautifully balance, great handling and all round a great ride.
Stay away from the hyo as they are shocking at low speed manoeuvring and handling.
I'm 6 foot 3 and 120kgs and mine is very suitable

Iv got the 650R, and besides some minimal teething problems, one caused by myself without actually realising it,
Its been a fantastic bike, I havnt had it long mind you but long enough to get a real good feel for it.

Compare it with the likes of the SV650, its cheaper, you have a faired or naked option, not that half ass bikini fairing,
Im pretty sure the motor in the GT650 might actually be a tad more superior (the carbed models, the SV's FI motor is by far better) and I believe there are a few tests with results that prove that, Ill have to dig around for them.

But you want something with a fair bit of gut then go with the VTR I think you can pick one up for 5 or 6 maybe cheaper.
All comes down to personal preference, ride some bikes and get a feel, if its a bike you like, a bike you feel comfy to ride, a bike you enjoy riding etc then get it, dont worry about the minor issues it may or may not have, if you can afford the rego on a bike over 600cc then you can afford to fix the fucker.

They have a horrible turning circle, but unless your doing 90 degree turns at 10km/h its not gonna matter.

get a VTR SP version, bit different, fully faired, V twin rumble, goes like fuck.
    what about a TLR?

Alot of guys that race are chucking GSXR fairings onto the SV650's, they actually dont look too bad either - could be a good compromise for you.

Is it just your experience of the 250 that makes you want the 650 hyo?. Their turning circle isnt great, and they CAN be a tad heavy in low speed manouvering, but outside of a parking lot, you dont really need to worry about that.

I see you have only mentioned twins, is that a 'must have' on your list of desires?

    Also, what is your budget?

budget is between 7-10 depending on how much the harley sells for.
I have only ever ridden twins and singles, But its not a must have...i would get a busa if i thought i wouldn't kill myself....plus i prefer a newer bike with low kms which means i couldn't afford one.
I ahven't looked at the TLR ill have to have a browse on tardme.

Go out and ride a few bikes.

Bandit is a likely candidate for you, plenty of second hand ones in the price range you mentioned.

    Get the Busa.

I fell for that mindset and it is all bollocks. The control is in your right wrist and your head. If you are mature enough you will be fine.

I was going to say the same, I had a Hyo GT250R and am now looking for my next ride. I am trying to decide between the VFR800 and Triumph Sprint ST 1050. From what I have seen on here you will get plently of shit for getting a Honda though
I'll be interested to see what you end up with and what helped with the decision.

Don't let the power of a Hayabusa put you off - it will only go as fast as you want it to go (unless the throttle gets stuck and you fuck yourself up like I did, not on a Hayabusa though). The long wheelbase of the Hayabusa should make the power output fairly easy to manage once you've done a few rides on it.
