I have a skid plate and half a bash plate which I got talked into buying when I first got the bike, has anybody had any dealings with Thumper Talk and there on line shop? I was wondering about delivery times for a decent bash plate and engine side plates?

    Cheers

Make some case savers - Not out of a road sign, that would be bad.
    But works well...

Get hold of GPCustom about a bash plate.

    Thanks for that Fran,

One other question, I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 phone, I was thinking about getting a waterproof handle bar mount and using it as a GPS for the Dusty, or should I try and learn the roll charts, never used them before, has anybody tried a similar exercise? Not sure if the phone will crap out with all the vibration? Is it hard to load extra maps? Thought it might save me buying a motorbike GPS that spends half its life on the shelf.

I had similar thoughts last time. I bought a RAM Aquabox for my iPhone. The RAM mount has a bit of flex so I don't think vibes are a prob. But I Had to mod it because the phone got too hot. Drilled holes and fitted an alloy plate inside to get some air flow. Otherwise it kind of worked but lost lock at times. Not sure how the S2 GPS performs in remote spots away from the phone network. Might be better than Apple AGPS. Also I found it hard to read the screen in bright sunlight.

I also had a roll chart but didn't use it cause the paper got wet in the Fairlie river. Luckily my brother had a backup copy and the phone GPS did work about 70% of the time although that's no help when it doesn't work when you're in the truly remote spots like the Awakino challenge.

I'm not sure I'd mention that in public. The Fairlie river is about 2.8km from the start! LOL

Don't worry you weren't the only one from what I hear! Something about north islanders and that river it seems!

Hope you get a little further this time!

I have found this bit of software for an Android phone, has anybody used it successfully in the wop wops?

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....license&hl=en

I know once my phone has downloaded a route on my phone, using standard google maps, I don't need a mobile signal, just the GPS switched on.
