Decent tyres. More mud grip than the 705 but wears more quickly.

    So just thinking about tenting...
Around Fairlie was considering Lake Opuha (15km out of town near Ashwick Flat) as have camped there before.
Just past Alexandra, anyone know if you can camp at Butchers Dam about 6km from Alexandra on the route. I'm sure I've seen tents and campers there before but maybe it was just campervans and they were there for the walks.

Guess it's either those or pay for potentially noisier/crowded camp ground sites in the towns... with a few facilitys. But if I'm going to be uncomfortably in a tent I may as well do it super cheap.

    Thumbs down

Work has just informed me that I will be deployed overseas in January. Hopefully Ryan and Josh will be able to free up my place for another rider. I had motel accommodation booked for Fairlie (sharing with Casualty) so if anyone wants to take this over, drop me a PM.

    Gutted.

Gutted for ya mate, I was looking forward to catching up with you.

Your rider spot will be snaffled up without any issues. This page has just been updated with info on the backup registration list: http://www.db1k.com/2013/registration-closed.php

Geez you gotta be quick to get the beds in Fairlie!! I am pitching the tent at the Fairlie Top 10 on Friday till Sunday, they have a pay for 2 get the third night free. Can handle tenting Friday and Sunday, its Alex where I find a hot shower and good bed is very welcome!!

Means I can travel light for the duration of Dusty Butt also. Had too much gear on last year......not that I had to pick the bike up very often

For those watching this thread, I do have a "reserves" list running and am allocating spots first come first served. Alex's spot has been already given to a fella from across the ditch. I think I might need to have another think about the first come first served. Maybe there should be some exceptions i.e. excluding Ausi's and north islanders who immediately go to the bottom of the list, the bigger the bribe the higher up the list etc etc LOL
