yea, pretty sure it would be the Nelson(ish) region vs Otago.

Its an easy mistake to make Nic, as the South Island is a long skinny bugger they gave it two ends They could have called them "The Top" and "The Bottom" but ohhhh no, that would be to much wurk

    Awakino challenge.

How much more challenging would this be going the other way? I reckon harder especially the hill at the end that we go down and the bouldery creek bit we go down towards that hut.

food for thought, but I'll be their no matter what the dates are.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

The "Dust Devils" (a CHC bunch of adventure riders) had a trip in reverse not long after we went through this year, and upon enquiring about the climb up the ridge you mention (and which I thought would be the hardest part, too) the reply was that it was no bother at all. I'm surprised, but pleased. No comment about the bouldery creek, but they all got through OK on a variety of bikes and experience..

Sometimes you wish it was easier, but if it was, everyone else would do it, then you remember you don't want to be like everybody else!

I'd reckon it's not set until it's on the db1k website and it's still in 2012 mode so don't be getting confused those of you who think we're serious here!
I'll change my signature again with the new date when it's set too.

The bottom of the T in Dusty is about where my sister and law comes from. Some fast gravel roads over there.
