Shoei and RK Racing Chain Sponsorship

In one of the most significant moves since the DB1k creation, this year Shoei and RK Racing Chain have sponsored the event. This sponsorship has greatly assisted with keeping the event free of entry fees, so a say a special thank you to these sponsors. If you need something that they offer it'd be a nice gesture to help them since they have helped us.

Well i was going to put a new chain and sprocket set on for the Dusty and associated trip anyway so RK it is.

Bits4bikes ( Whites ) generally does pretty good deals anyhow, so its not any hardship.

Happy to support any sponsor of such a great event - well done Keith L

My $99 RK 520KRO lasted 4,000km on the TT before the links were very bound up and it was unusable.
    A $150 RK 520EXW lasted 14,000km on the DR...

The DR is now at 13,000km on a Torpedo7 $80 EK 520X and the TT is wearing a $115 DID 520V.

I found the cheap RK's either stretched or bound up really quickly. The mid-range ones are much better.

Tell me not to be nosey ,if you like. But do you just get a lump sum to spend how you like?
I.E. Petrol --- bike maintenence -- accommadation -- phone calls etc?
Or is it just for advertiseing?

I dont suppose the sponsers product will be distributed?? (not like the ride is a race where prizes are given out)

AND ---- How doe,s Padmei,s "KOHA" now stand??

    good question Al

I initated the koha really just to let us show our appreciation of the hard work Ryan has done setting up this ride. I just stepped up to organise it as I felt people woud want to help Ryan cover costs etc & give him a bit of tyre money. I'm not sure wht the sponsorship deal involves & not sure it's mine or anyone elses business - no offense inferred to you Al or anyone else.

I am not involved in any way with the organisation of the ride but do participate in it.

I'm not sure what happens from here with regards to the koha. Ryan did post that he would include a donation amount in the entry form making me redundant. (I really needed the money this year for a cool pyramid selling scheme I am secretly trying to set up)

Ryan send me a PM if you wish & let me know if the sponsorship deal covers your costs & leaves a bit for tyre money, as I woud be happy to collect it & pass it on again.

The only concern I have & have had for the last couple of years is the running of an event (with with sponsorship money now must fall under that category) involving riding motorcycles on public roads for 24hrs. I reckon that should be given some consideration.

Edit - just read the updated website page & not sure if anything I said is relevant anyway.

Sorry Al, really not appropriate to tell. I can say that the sponsorship helps go some way to cover costs to organise the ride.

Your work with the koha was much appreciated Padders. ADVGD has already set up a way of making an optional donation if you want too as part of the registration process. Couple of final things to do and registration page should be sorted.

Re public roads and event, I've done a bit of homework and the short story is that I don't charge an entry fee because of liability reasons. Donations and the sponsorship go a long way to helping cover costs to organise and run the ride.

    Cheers R
