I'd definitely like to have a end of event gathering.
There will be three more for a beer or two (or more), some food and a yarn on the Sunday evening if there is a get together.

Old library cafe is closed and will be for a while due to extensive fire damage.
There is a small pizza place next door now, not bad pizzas for a small town.

Has the Gladstone fallen out of favour? Not a bad old pub. I'll be there Sunday night along with a few others. Keen for a gathering of some sort.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

    Hi Ryan
Please be advised that "Jon the Pom" will be on his BMW 650 (and not the Dominator) and "Bluft" will be on a DR650 (and not his KTM990)

    Thanks Mate

Q: How do you know your KTM 640 chain is correctly adjusted?

    On a more serious note.
Ryan Are there any fire danger alerts down there that would stop access to the usual route?

Only asking cos I got my fire extinguisher today
(FYI 300ml slimline one from NZ safety - if any of yous want one they may have to get you in as in Nelson the 5 that arrived yesterday have all gone)

ha ha, not Ryan obviously and 1.5 weeks out anything valid today may well be totally invalid then... but yep I think there's probably the usual Fire risk alearts and if you also saw the News a few days ago there was another dump of snow in the area (well it shut the Lindas Pass near the Omarama bit of the route so yea, in the area).
Maybe Ryan has the actual info but the weather is out of our hands so who cares and heaven forbid people start another panic assuming there's no back up plan, there's always a back up plan.. but it's called the sealed road!

Whatever the case I am not a fan of the pressurized fire extinguishers as they are not environmentally friendly, I will be carrying two 10 litre buckets full of water

The warm weather since has removed most of it. Rain is predicted over the next few days ... which will take out most of whats left. Unless more rain comes afterwards ... river levels should have dropped when you guys come through.

Was just trying to say it doesn't matter, as the rider preparation instruction page says, we are supposed to be prepared for anything, it snowed on us last year, it could again, it just has, or just as easily it could be 30+ºC.

Guess it's just become a pet peeve that people last two years spent so much time fussing over the weather and river conditions leading up to the DB1K, there's pretty much always a plan B but it's a bit crap and totally out of our hands so show up at the briefing and deal with it.
Ohhh, do I sound like an angry little Transalper or what??
Padmei look what you started with "any fire danger alerts down there that would stop access to the usual route?" and I doubt you were even actually seriously asking even though you claimed to be.
    think I'll go
