    Ktm990 / dr650

In the same boat here MXNUT. Parts for a repair for the 990 ordered beginning of Nov/ ment to take 3-4weeks to arrive. Parts still not here 1week ago so it was off to the bank to extend the morgage, buy a 2nd hand DR650, put on an 18l tank and strap bags and crap all over her as i have no pannier system. See you at DB

I've booked a room at the top 10 Fairlie. Can't remember if it has a bunk bed. If it does, you're welcome to it. No snorers

No Snorers?? Well that counts me out !! I've been able to find a B&B 3 km from the centre of town, fingers crossed, you won't hear me from that distance
Accommodation in Fairly is VERY full.

I've lucked in with a friend for accommodation (he snores too so all good!) so if anyone needs to book accommodation in Fairlie PM me and I'll put you on to the B&B that I know has a space.

I got the 640 back together Tuesday night after good few hrs of on it over the last week, stripdown/cleanup, sorted out a bunch of minor stuff that has been bugging me for a while, made a gps mount & wired in a power supply, did a thorough service & a repaired/reinforced a crack in the subframe. The motor now sounds like a bucket of bolts being poured into a concrete mixer so perfect normal running condition there & good to go even got a warrant with flying colours yesterday. Sailing over Saturday. As long as the new rear tyre I have had sent to my Stavely bivouac gets there before me I am set.

    Cheers
    Clint

That sux big time. Still I doubt many will keep up - you could manage some pretty decent pace on the DR650.

That sounds like the worse move in the history of biking - extending the mortgage to buy a DR650!!! Bad luck that you had too.

I reckon. Seems Suzuki is the most common brand and DR650 the most common bike. Last year KTM was most common brand but DR650 most common bike. Another perspective (that makes me feel better as a EXC owner) is that there was 20 EXC's of all capacities vs 20 DR650's in 2012. Unfortunately this year, because people keep swapping to DR650's there are 25 DR650's vs 21 EXC's. So I'll call EXC's for second most common bike, rather than DZ400's

    Sooo...

If you add the DR650's and the DR400(Z)'s together?

And from another perspective, the DR650 is the most suitable bike for the terrain based on its pedigree as seen in Oz?
Not knocking KTM either, I bet if Mark had one spare in the garage he would have kitted that out as well.
Mind you, Mark could ride a DR200 and still clobber us all around the traps

Can we get Josh to make the list sortable by bike (I know he hasn't much else to do at the moment) then I can get straight to the cool KLR riders without scrolling through all the other wannabees

Hang around the main road into Alex after dark on the 19th & you'll find the KLR's have assumed their natural position in the group
