    TS185 question

Mates got a TS185, the bolts that hold the exhaust on the head keeps coming undone or stripping.

Is there a fix for this? Maybe fit a stud with 600 loctite?

Do they use a copper ring as a gasket?

Standard is a bolt. Screws into head. No nut needed.

The exhaust on a TS185 exits through the barrel not the head, it is a common problem caused by allowing the exhaust to rattle in its mounts and not fitting a new gasket[alloy ring filled with asbestos fiber]. Trying to weld the manifold to the barrel will be hard as the manifolds steel and the barrels alloy. Easier to use helicoils in the bolt holes.

Thanks for that. Is it best to use a stud once you have helicoiled it?

Yes I would use a stud as you don't want to be removing it wen its in place as helicoils can be pulled out by over use. Best to replace the gasket between the barrel and manifold while your at it, use an OEM or red gasket goo. Use nylock nuts on the stud.
