You can almost always claim gear against your house and contents insurance if you have any.

Thats another excess that you have to pay.

I called state to see if they could give me a quote for full insurance, they wouldn't insure gear with a bike and suggested having contents insurance as well, im like wtf, im a boarder I dont need contents insurance so pretty much hungup, that would mean two excesses etc

Yeh State did the same to me, get contents insurance and we will give you a discount.

Changed from Vero to Protecta last week, will save approx $300.00 a year. Thats a lot towards an expensive rego.

    Cheers GM.

Sad fact of life, but it pays to shop around.

    Kiwibike

All the way, they are a broker so can shop around for the best deal and get it sorted for you, because they can put a lot of business to different companies they tend to get a better deal than you can as an individual.
I dealt with Dave and he was friendly, easy to deal with and made the process very simple. My policy is with Star Insurance through Kiwibike and if anything happens (heres hoping it doesnt) then I just deal direct with Kiwibike who sort the mess out for me. 0800629253

Ended up changing to NAC, Kiwi and the others were all around the same price but NAC gave me the same cover as Vero did on everything with only a slightly higher excess but it was 60% the price so can't really complain about that.
