    Crash in Little River

Came back from Akaroa today, only to be re-routed from State 75 due to what looked like a big crash involving a biker. Anyone know if the rider is ok? Ambo told us it was a bike crash but then gave us the look of disapproval. Charming!

Yea, we saw that action too. We were heading back to CHCH 11:29am, may have been you I waved past down the long straight approaching the Birdlings Flat bend when I wanted to regroup with my partner on the yellow DR coming behind. (if you were a black DRZ400sm with another bike)

I remember seeing something like a couple of police, a couple of Ambos and something with Rescue on written on it and another vehicle with the flashing lights stopped on the Birdlings Flat side road.... lost count somewhere in all the fuss.

That road is deadly on the weekends. Plenty of muppets with more money than sense so I only go there on the weekday afternoons when it's quiet.

but the road is awesome for high speed runs that when shit goes bad its never a good ending...

hope who ever had some bad luck today are ok and manage to get back on a bike soon..

I've ridden to Akaroa on weekends and have on several occasions seen idiots on bikes overtaking around blind corners on the wrong side of the road. There have been a couple of times that I have nearly been wiped out by muppets on the hills between Cooptown and Akaroa, and there are too many cops on that road for my liking as well on the weekends.

On weekdays the road out there is quiet so it's a nice ride.

What makes it worse is that there aren't many side roads so it can be hard to do a runner and get away with it unless you're a real nuts cunt.

Arrived at the scene not long after it happened , I was told it involved a car that did a U turn without looking, driver was a Teenager and no license . Got there just after it happened .

The car had a trailer and I'm told it was a local boy driving , evidently he pulled out of a paddock and it was a T boner with the Harley ...BANG !

Some issues with no license and wof but it's only hearsay from me ...

Could've happened to any one of us.

Me and my band of merry men were overtaken by the Hillmorten Hospital Motorcycle Club today, surprised none of them became hood ornaments. Overtaking without sufficient clear road and I'm talking well less than 100 metres. The funniest thing was after they overtook us we reeled them in since they couldn't ride for shit and I wasn't even trying. The guy at the back on a black naked bike like a Buell or similar was hilarious, kept hugging the centreline instead of staying to the left and cutting the apex nek minite he was weaving left to right to adjust his position mid corner. Thanks for the entertainment!

Hope the guy on the Harley that came off is OK. Mate of mine riding his bike, was T-boned on Friday by someone who blew a Give Way sign and said "I didn't see him". Broken leg, serious flesh wound, a week in Hospital with a couple of Ops. Be careful out there people.
