Jolly Roosta Trail Ride, Sunday 29 April

Its been a while since we spammed you guys on one of our events so freakin well get used to it over the next 6 months OK

This Sunday is the firsrt of the winter trail rides thru Woodhill and the tracks are all blessed and ready to be ridden like a...

Anyway, Jolly Roosta with the Leightons farm loop and about 40km of main forest loop with home options and another 10km of secondary forest loop are awaiting. We've again been busy and this year its totally different from the last.
None of the "OK we will just reverse last years track" from our crew. We are setting the bar!!!
    We even cater for quads.

Normal boring farm loop tho with the pee wee track as well.
If you want to camp over on the Saturday night feel free (no riding and no charge for camping) as we will have the bomb fire going and feel free to help us sink a few ales. Compulsory!!

Damn this clashes with the MR Motorcycles Maize paddock Fun day MX, I love this series, but have always wanted to do a Jolly Roosta trail ride. these clashes are happening far to often, now which one to do,
Why would you ride that long and that gnarly stuff if you don't have to, Its what we do, we love it.

I'm in, I've even serviced the bike!

Was a great ride last year and a little bit of rain at the end of the week will settle the sand nicely, looking forward to it.

While we are on the subject, the Sandpit is full of new tracks and great riding at the mo, the log "jumping" track being a novelty and guaranteed to provide a few good photo opportunities, keep up the good work Tony!

I'll second that, the logs at the start put heaps off so it's always quite though there.
The new convit also gets the thumbs up.

I seem to have some problems with that track, after the uphill your supposed to turn left I think, enthusiasm usually results in me going straight ahead and wandering semi lost on the old track... one of these days I will get it right!

I am enjoying the variety at the Sandpit, lots of new bits to challenge me.

I did the exact same thing the first couple of times through there. the first time I went the wrong way at nearly every time it crossed the old track. It just goes to strengthen the "keep your head up" rule.

It is good to see new tracks opening up, keep up the good work all.
As for the JR i will hope to make it up.

Metservice and Metvuw are both saying fine on Sunday, after rain on Friday and showers Saturday.

Is the max loop distance 40km? I'm planning on bringing the spawn on KX85s and need them to be able to do a full loop on 1 tank.

Its 40km plus the farm loop. So all up its as advertised at 45km.
We have a short cut home at 15-20km as well as a seperate track that we haven't measured yet and this should be about 15-17km.
The farm loop will be 5-8km as well.

The coast block section in the big loop this year is long and way cool

    Same day/

Well we book well ahead and check all sites. Powers, MNZ, Waitemata, Rodney (yes, we know you have a club event every 2nd Sunday) Epic Events (even though you have changed dates and seasons for DS and the 4hr numerous times in the last 2 years) and Silver bullet etc etc. (There was no mention of the maise paddock race a couple of weeks ago and the Warkworth Honda series got cancelled to this weekend a couple of weeks ago) before we advetise, mostly about 4-6mths out.

We really do try and work in with others and The Roosta is always held this time of the year. The only other event we normally clash with is John Cobbs (Ardmore) schools MX champs. That normally doesn't affect either of us too much apart from the fact that my son races this event and I don't get to be there, plus he is pissed because he in his words "I never get to ride the best trail ride ever".

Its a pity that some plan poorly. Surely you would try and maximise your event rather than dilute it.
Sorry (not directed at you Scott411) but why would you put on a Maize race the same weekend as an MX champ event (Huntly?), Ardmore School MX races, Honda School MX races and a trail ride in Franklin to boot??

Anyway the point I'm saying is that the calendar needs to be consulted and its in the best interest for the promotor as well as for the rider that events are well scheduled and, as we do, the other stake holders are consulted..
Silver bullet without doubt would be the best.

please remember i have nothing to do with MR MC events anymore

but you have moved it back a week from last year, as we had this discussion last year,

    http://www.endlessdirtbiking.co.nz/j...il-ride.html-0

problem is that Craig has to miss Puke Clubdays (3rd sundays of the month as they use their medic crew) and duck shooting opening, (very big in rural communites)

so that leaves the last weekend in april, and Mr MC have run this date for about 4 years that they have run the maize paddocks, it has clashed with the schools a few times because of this, but you have a small window to use the maize paddocks,

as for the limestone ride, it is a bit later than normal, but wiht a change of shop running it, (after full throttle closed in dec) the same issues come out,
