yeah charging systems can be a right cunt. When DMs charging system went kaput, I did some googling, and found a place in the usa that does really good aftermarket stators for fuckall, we bought one for a kwak, and mated it to an 07 R1 mosfet r/r and I hooked it all up together, had no issues since.

what did the stator cost you?

had a look, closest I have is a 1 inch socket, which is 25.4mm - will be close enough to do what you want if you wanna come and grab it some time?

15 bucks US greenbacks plus 10 postage..

hoping the reg/rec is still ok as its proving hard to find a direct replacement for the gn250, although there are ones online ebay for cheap that look the same but the fella is adament it will not work on my GN, only got for the 80's - 90's ones.. looks the same to me but meh. he almost guaranteed me they wouldnt work lol

oh if the 15 buck stator doesnt work or is shit, I'd be very keen to copy ur solution, gettin the stator and mosfet reg/rec and having u show me the way for some beer or something. would prob do the fireblade conversion to mosfet at the same time too since im just running a finned old diode reg/rec on that thing too.

yeah, wasnt a big job, ya need the parts, soldering iron, and thats about it. took an hour or two (I was drinking while doing it haha)

Hayden told me about what you got told about your RR for the ginny - sounds like BS to me, Ive seen all kinds of rr's thrown on bikes that have worked just fine - I like the idea of replacing both, because in my experience, either one can fuck the other. the offer is there if you want the Hyo rr, i'll get DM to put it aside before he goes to work if you wanna pick it up.

the .4 Id think would be ok, I assume you doused it with wd40 or similar?
I used an imperial cosket that has .5mm too big to get the nut off my top triple clamp a while ago and it was fine, didnt slip and she was over tourqued by quite a way

sweeet, yea bro bang it aside, if I dont use it I'll return it to him or whatever

I'll come pay yas a visit tomorrow if your free or somethin.

yea its had a bit of a WD40 spraying and have left it for a few days now so it should crack off with a good socket. the crescent and spanner wasnt really useful because the nut is slightly recessed as well so couldnt get a good purchase. im sure the 1inch will bang her off.

cheers for the help man! tis much appreciated. will send ya a PM later or if u can be bothered send us a PM with ur celly number. Thought I had it but maybe not
