There must be something wrong with Yamaha NZ. If Waikato Yamaha couldn't keep the doors open, it must be extra tough for other Yamaha dealerships
I think Yamaha gave up on New Zealand some years ago. They never came to terms with their pricing, range offered (compared with Australia), and the Internet is a complete mystery to them (no RRP listings, as one example of failure).
Shame, because the FJR1300 is one of the best motorcycles ever made.

I had a chat with the proprietor of an 'ex' yamaha shop.... his explanation was Yamaha wanted a segregated area from other bikes AND a dedicated yamaha only, salesman....... guess they've been watching too many bose adverts, and been shopping in them!!
It's a shame as back in my 2T days, Mitsui Yamaha (UK) for fantastic for help with odd part aquisition or jets, carbs etc for tuning up.

Interestingly the Yamaha XJR1300 is still available new in Australia, if recent motorcycle reviews and Yamaha Australia's web site are to be believed. This model isn't offered in New Zealand, according to Yamaha New Zealand's web site, as are many of the Yamaha models available new in Australia. So what's that all about?

think its the sales levels?? I was chatting to an ex HD salesman, who is still involved in bike sales, seems the XR1200 sporty was no longer imported by HD Australia, due to low sales? WaddaF***?? There are lots of XR's on the road in NZ.... guess not enough sales to make them carry on importing them. Maybe the FJR1300 has suffered the same fate? Although in a really bizarre twist, Yamaha never imported the MT-01 into the states, probably one BIIIIIIIG mistake in hindsight.
