A new set of bars should set you back about $30-40 bucks (at the most). Half an hour to fit with basic tools ... yourself.

Flat bars should help you out then.
Or as someone else said, clip ons from an SV650 (I expect they're 41mm forks, so there's a huge variety of bars that'll clamp to 'em)
With clip on bars, you may find you have to shorten your cables and the brake line might look a bit silly as it'll be at a different angle.
On the other hand, on my ZZR600 I have got away with just a shorter clutch cable and I may put a shorter top front brake line in it.

A double bubble screen would help with the wind resistance problem

Any suggestions what to look for and/or where to go?

    Cheers.

    Red face Got it..

Thanks for the hints guys (except for calls to change my bike. How dare you?? LoL). I have enough ideas to start talking to shops without looking like a blind man in a brothel. And here is what I will trying to do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhPcz23629I

I have a pair of flat alloy bars that are drilled for homda controls. I dont need them as my new bike has clip ons. $30.

I only rode them twice as it didnt work on my bike.
