How far will a 85 two-stroke travel on a tank of fuel?

Ok going on a trail ride at the weekend and the girls and boys are on kx/rm 85s. The loops they tell me are 50-55km long. The organisers are not providing any fuel stops (and as far as I know there are no short cuts back home) so what I want is someone to tell me, who has some experience, (Scott maybe?) of how far these 85's will go on a full tank of fuel.

Used to race them on the GNCC but that was several loops around a shorter track that allowed you to fuel up. Have never done this length before so don't know if the 2 strokes will make it. Anybody got any experience on how far you can go on a full tanked rm/kx 85 ?
Also running a kdx and crf250 but reckon both of these, being enduro machnes, should make it round.

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
And now a third thing a bloody big gun to shoot theives with!

My son when he was 14 did the big loop at Desert Storm on an RM85, we did carry fuel but it wasn't needed.

I've got a KX85 - don't ride hard out though - but i made the 62km loop at Desert Storm with fuel still in the tank. It was quite an easy track though. We did carry extra fuel with us in a small bottle just incase it was needed.
Husband on his KX250 didn't make a 50km loop once (he was going hard out all of it) on a ride yet made all the loops at Desert Storm.

So end of the day it depends how hard they're gonna ride the bikes & what the track is like.

Did roughly 60/70 kms of forest tracks on the weekend and the two youngest lads had kx 80,s and they just made it on a tank, wasnt real hard out riding though.

Just as a precaution I would take some spare fuel with ya, mate is doing it for his RM250 and we will have a litre of fuel, if he needs extra he is also taking just some 2smoke oil.
Haven't heard what the weather has been like up there but suspect Tracks could get a bit interesting with 500 bikes going through and cutting it up with some of the steeper bits.
    Looking forward to this!!!!!

ok thanks all. guess the 2 girls won't be riding very hard so hopefully they'll make it round.

Just had chat with the girls and we reckon at trail riding pace and not falling over and emptying the bowl too many times, you'll get about 50-60km or 1.5hrs.... 2 laps of Glen Murray for instance would be marginal... Have an awesome time out riding, miss you guys!...... (Your mileage may vary )

yep can confirm 2 stroke 85s will do 50km no problems...... well at at the speed we were going anyway.
    Thanks for all the replies.

The Smith's will have have to come south sometime with the bikes. - have our own mx track now!
