Awesome fun, but did they settle the argument?

Latest issue of Autocar carried an article re: a contest between an Audi R8 V10
against Aaron Slight on his Honda at Hampton Downs. Question was the old chestnut which was faster around a race track.

Cutting a very interesting story short, the Audi wound up a second per lap in front. The really funny kicker? Aaron was told the results while still sitting on the bike with helmet on and engine still running. Without a word he snapped his visor down, gunned the engine and ripped off down the track! When he came back in he'd lopped 2 sec. off his lap times and was now 1sec. ahead of the Audi!

Shorai Powersports batteries are very trick!

    Who was driving the car?

Interesting comparison on the corner speeds

I think he was the driver of one of the Lighting Direct Porsches?

No, the argument isn't settled because it will constantly be done around the world, over and over with different vehicles

the argument will never be settled for numerous reasons.
The one reason I will never look too much into a car vs bike comparison is because of the arbitrary way in which they decide the bike and the car are equal. I mean, whats a fair way to compare them?
    same engine size?
same price new on the shop floor?
    same power to weight ratio?

what about the drivers, how can you possibly know that the car driver is exactly as skilled at driver a car, as the rider is at riding a bike?

more often than not such tests have been set up to deliver the result most desired by the person who wanted the test performed in the first place.
If I get a 1275GT mini and put her against a zx10r, and say that the mini has more than 25% capacity advantage as well as a substantially larger traction footprint, so the test actually favours the mini, making it a fair test, does that make it so?
    of course not.

What impressed me was that they got two vehicles that were capable of lapping within a second of each other. By now everyone knows a car has a braking and cornering advantage and a bike has an acceleration advantage. I reckon that is all we are ever going to prove by such tests.

However, it is a great excuse to have fun!

Interesting how close they were in braking, both extremely late considering, and the corner speeds werent too far apart.

I want to take a bike and a car back to back around Suzuka. 130R would be terrifing at full speed.
