p.s. nothing better than on a near 30 degree day to get on the bike in ya jandals and shorts with ya mrs in her skimpy bikini on the back and go for a gentle idle down to the beach.. you take that away from me and I'll kill ya - I'll KILL YA !
Yup UNTILL some person makes an error, you or another driver, or even a mechanical failure on the bike... and mrs skimpy bikini slides down the road at a 'gentle idle' and receives 'gentle idle' road rash,,,, and please dont say it wont be much, I used to do 'ambulance' and also over the years have seen '50kph gentle idle road rash' IF that piece of road has just been re surfaced, especially if its a spray and stick chips to the surface' she aint gonna be mrs pretty tits n ass anymore!!!

All those who think "ATGATT or you's gunna die" would shit baby monkeys if they saw me road testing bikes (which I do many, many times a day). My helmet is my sole item of safety clothing (unless you count my steel cap boots). Otherwise, jeans, tee-shirt and bare hands suits me fine.

You wanna know what my secret is?

I try really hard not to crash. Crashing customer's bikes is a bad look. More people should realise that crashing their own bikes is also a bad look.

Don't get me wrong - if I'm going on a longer ride I'll wear more gear. More for keeping warm than anything else.

Too many people see ATGATT as a motorcycling panacea.

    It's not.

Don't worry about him ... he lives in one of the back valleys. The place that has it's only importance to motorcyclists ... at Queens Birthday weekend. (At an event featuring monkey's ... appropriately enough )

    Thank you Katman,
all your sanctimonious bullshit about self reliance and the need to look at the individuals behavior, skills, actions and then lay blame on them fair and square?
Well Captain Sensible,,, you just shot your own foot with that post...... the great katman admits to being human like every one else!!

The one varient in his post you quoted ... is the admission that the responsibility in any incident riding a bike (his own or a customers) is (as the rider) ... his own. All care taken and all responsibility ... for his actions .. and for items in HIS care.

Oh wait ... isn't that what he always says ... ???

I've never claimed to be anything other than human.

Maybe I just try a bit harder than most.

It's part of the answer though. Like an insurance policy.

You don't know when you're gonna need it, but ask anyone in Christchurch if house insurance is a good idea...............

There is no one big answer to the motorcycle safety issue, there are several answers, and we can't even agree on those. ATGATT is just a piece of the puzzle.
