There are many 1000cc bikes out there that have a lot less power than some of the 600s. A n00b will be safer on a 1200cc Harley than on a ZX6R, or other high powered 600cc bike. You have to remember that the highly tuned bikes tend to be quite docile at low to medium revs, giving the impression that they don't have a lot of power. The power tends to kick in quite suddenly at high revs and can easily make someone panic if they're not expecting it.
My first bike was/is a VTR1000F and three years later I have not had issues with it (yet)- but I had ridden around on many mates bikes for a while. It is a V-twin, so a nice linear throttle response, and no powerband.
But It STILL scares the shit out of me - This may not be a bad thing, since a healthy does of respect is what is ALWAYS required. It has 110hp. A 170hp Blade with a monstrous powerband and that much hp is probably just asking for trouble.
Sweet - who needs CBR1000 parts?
