What has the reliability been like compared with the honda road bikes? Im keen for a change i think aprilia would be next on my list.
I'm unable to comment from a technically qualified point of view, but general consensus certainly seems to be that build quality is high. There is a fantastic and supportive forum (AF1) that is also a cheap(er) place to buy parts.
I know that generally the ECU is a little hard on the battery so most owners prefer to keep it on a battery tender or trickle charger. This isn't an option for me so I just make sure it's fully charged regularly.
I have owned a Falco and now a Tuono, and I would definitely go for a new Tuono V4R if I had the coin.

ECU has nothing to do with battery going flat ! My 03R has now done 72,000ks & that has being redlined form new for all of its life & runs & makes more power now than it ever had with all the modifying i have done to it .. Have tuned & tune other customers bike some of which have done over 120,000ks & are still runing the stock Valve spec as set at the Factory as is mine at 72,000ks ... Apart form a common charging fault which doesn't affect all the Milles etc & is easy to fix done afew now , even did mine just so I knew how to do others , these bikes are one of the strongest motor you can buy & base that on the 70 different bikes I have owned over the last 41ys of riding & owning bikes ... The new Generation of V4's like the first Milles have set the bench mark for the others brand to try & figure out how they can match them ..

Factory alarm ?
RSV Mille: No madam, its an Aprilia, not a Harley. If it were a Harley, I would be pushing it !

Oh yea sounds like they are up there then.
Some batteries do drain more then others. You can buy a new type of battery that drains a lot less. If you spend $30 on a solar panel and fit a easy to get to plug to the battery you can just sit the solar panel on the seat plugged in while not in use. The current it can provide should stop the voltage dropping.
