Blah Licence condition "correct lens must be used" vs laser surgery?

    Right,

About a month and half ago I went to AA to apply for restricted licence.

Filled out the form, passed the eye test, took a pic, and paid.

waited month and a half , got a day off, rented a 250 cc motorcycle from mate.

Went to sit the test this morning, the officer tells me he can't take me out as I have "correct lens must be used" as condition.

Now, I've got a laser surgery done on my eyes 2 years ago, so I have perfect eye-site, but I was asked to re-visit the AA.

So walked out from the testing station, went back to AA Takapuna and found out that the guy behind the counter (who were training at the time) should have written me a temporary licence with the condition erased, upon applying! (can't just pass me the eye test and leave the condition). I even mentioned the guy about the sugary while applying.

At the end I got the time re-scheduled. and have to wait another full month!! damn!

now, what I think is a bit mis-leading is that I AM using the "correct lens". what Ive basically done to me by having laser surgery done is putting permanent lens inside me which makes it not only the most expensive but the most "correct lens" there is.

I've tried to explain this to the testing officer but he can only accept contact lens and glasses. I beg to differ because what I've done is most "correct lens" of them all!

anyway.. that was my little tale about the licence condition this morning.. don't make the same mistake I've made, if you have done a eye surgery, remind them to update when applying for your next licence, if they don't ask..

Go buy some cheap sunglasses. Inform the tester that they are glasses with transition lenses.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

A pair of "mild" warehouse glasses ... or clear safety glasses.

These days it pays to confirm everything anyone does to your satisfaciton before you leave anywhere. This goes for everything from fast food orders to supermarket receipts to bank transactions. There is simply too much incompetence about to chance it now. If this means holding up others, so be it.
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!

Sorry but have to disagree. What you've done is have your natural lenses corrected, you are not wearing corrective lenses.
I know the administrative fuk up hurts and I feel for you on that but they were probably going to try and find some other excuse to fail you so you had to pay again anyhow, remember they now have to fail over half that they test.
Also remember there will be retards out there that should be wearing corrective lenses that are not due to vanity, ego or whatever and it is hard enough for the authorities dealing with them. Doesn't help you I know, sorry.
As for your last bit of advice, which is good, I would add that if you get lasered get your license updated or one day you will meet doing a license check and it will cost you more than a resit to argue your way out of that one.

Hang on, have you had laser surgery to correct your vision or had corrective lenses inserted? if the later, then technically you still wear corrective lenses - just on the inside.

yeah, its later, I do have lil piece of lens inside my pupil. and yeah, that's exactly what I told the tester word to word. haha

There are 2 types, one you can only get away with just laser. The other is laser + lens!

Then your tester was an utter wankstain. I'd be inclined to contest him/her on the issue, but I am sure he/she would be more of a c00nt and fail you anyway.

I have to say, the times that I have been pulled up, only once have I been asked if I am wearing my contact lenses and never have I had to "prove" that I am wearing them.

yeah.. you are right.. something definitely was 'off' about today's incident. as least AA admitted they made a mistake and I didn't have to pay again,, was pretty shitty I had to go thu all that and wait another month for someone elses mistake, (took a day off from work and borrowed bike from mate who lives on the other side of the town)

and the funny thing was I already had "proved" my eye-site while applying for the test at AA 1&1/2 month ago, haha

haha yeah.. fuck, I guess life's unfair and shit happens

count yourself lucky you didn't have to pay again but it is shitty that to get that far you had already proved your eye-site was ok and then someone what is not testing your eye-site bounces you and don't bother to even check your story. The lack of checks and balances allows them to be little dicks of the tator variety. Still if you could have forced them to take you for your test they would have just found an excuse to fail you and then you would have not only had to wait the month but also pay the dollars.

For the testers view point he can only go by what's on the paper work but when told the paper work is wrong he should cross check. I fell they are so wrapped up in making the test 'hard' that they forget how much it does cost people, like time off work etc.

Test the ability on the road not the paper work etc

Same thing happened to me when i got stopped by a cop.

I said "I've got contacts". Cop said - "I don't care who you know! It says here you're supposed to be wearing glasses."

What's a laser sugary? Is that where they put sugar into your eyes with a laser or something?
