Let's all show some support if we can
This was in the Manawatu Standard today - I for one know if I needed any engineering work done, I'd want to use his company as a way of showing support for his family and his workers. Let's hope they manage to keep going and the support for them all continues. Sounds like he was an all-round good bloke who will be greatly missed.
Brunton funeral tomorrow
27 July 2005
The Palmerston North engineering company owned by Owen Brunton, who was killed in a motorcycle accident at Manfeild on Saturday, will close tomorrow for Mr Brunton's funeral.
But the business will reopen the following day and will remain open, widow Denny Brunton said.
"We'll celebrate Owen's life at the funeral, and then it will be back to business," she said. "That's when we'll need support from the community . . . that's when continuing support will be most appreciated, from Friday on . . . that's when we'll be carrying on for Owen."
Mr Brunton had been an engineer all his working life and the couple started Owen Brunton Engineering on Tremaine Avenue seven years ago. The business employs about 15 staff.
"I'd like to thank all the wonderful people who have helped me, and our children Yvette and Michael, over the past few days," Mrs Brunton said. Messages of support from other businesses had also been appreciated.
The funeral will be held at 11am tomorrow at Beauchamp Funeral Home, and afterwards at the Red Sox Sports Club on Tremaine Avenue. Mr Brunton had been a keen soccer player before turning his attention to motorcycles.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
