Bill Bucklay supports Speedway to the tune of $500,000 plus support him.

Here is an example of a rich dude giving back to his city. Please support Bill and if you havn't sign the petition. But more importantly, go to the Speedway GP in Auckland next year. It's incredible.

    What a good bastard!

    Didn't know he built/owned Maximus.

Hopefully he throws some money at private investigators who can track down the whining cunt residents... and have their houses burnt down. Fuckers!

Yup, been saying this for years...
    Stupid pointy-ball games.
Rugby gets public money okay ...
Rugby is definitely part of the old boys' network and drained a huge amount out of Ateed at the cost of other sports. It's one-sided. All rugby has to do is ring up.

Bill could suggest to the council that he's thinking of moving Buckley Systems somewhere else. Pretty sure the council would come around quick enough.

    petiton signed.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

I haven't been to Speedway in ages but sounds like it is having a bit of a resurgence.

About 10 years ago I was a new boy in the wooden pallet/packaging industry and made a call on a company called Buckley Systems to measure up some machinery for export. I didn't understand what their equipment was but in the corner of the workshop was an area dedicated to making a motorcycle and I spent a while looking at it and asking a few questions. At the time I got the impression that it was just a project one of the Engineers was doing in his "after hours" time the way panel beaters rebuild cars.

    Time has proved me wrong.

He certainly is a benefactor to the sport.

....speedway never went away...go and support your local track, even if its miles away...if theres only tin tops and open wheelers there, its still the best up close, petrol head heaven we have for the family...better if your local track has solos, even better if they have flat-track racing too...

Remember this is the man who also tried to get a NZ built 500 GP bike on to the international stage with the BSL500, seen here:http://vunblog.blogspot.co.nz/2010/0...gp-effort.html This is a man who has been supporting motorcycle sport for many years and deserves any help we as a community can give him.

Reading the article mentioned in the first post, he mentions Geoff Perry as being his friend in the 60's. For those younger fellas out there who do not know the name, Geoff was one a very good racer in the early 70's and in fact earned a place in the Suzuki Works team but tragically was killed in a plane crash on route to the USA to join the team in May 1973. Geoff was the son of Len Perry, a man who still competes today on his classic Bultaco race bike.
Opps, getting my old racers mixed up, sorry, as mentioned in the next posts, Len died some years ago.

Len died about ten years ago, think you're thinking of Ginger Molloy, whose recently retired from racing and rode Bultacos.
Nice bit of info otherwise and sorry if it seems i'm picking holes in it

Someone better go and park a bike on Len's grave. Geoff is remembered as an up coming road racer, but was also a very good speedway rider...typically forgotten.

I see Bill Buckley was on the news tonight as a Finalist in the "World Entrepreneur of the Year" or something similar held in Monaco. He was one of 50 IIRC from around the world. An exceptionally high honour just to get to the finals.

    A champion bloke.
