They are fantastic. Cons - Small tank and no ignition switch (unless one has been fitted)
Cruza-have a look on supermoto junkie.com and search manufacturers for KTM 525s. Lots of owners experiences on there. Seems like they are pretty problem free and a great bike.. Thumpertalk.com might have info too, but probably more off road oriented.
525's are a great motor so much torque just point and twist the throttle, easy to fit an 6 speed EXC box to a SX .
KTM's have always had hard seats my 1984 250 MXC's seat is as hard still as the day it left the factory, If motarding get one of those step seats it will stop you sliding back under power.
Apart from the BS on the KTM satchel in the photo not many cons ...
I'd be more inclined to buy a low hour 525 off some veteran trail rider, suppose
balances out if the son given it the beans (what are the chances ?) and ya got to spend some $ on the motor with the value in the motard rims.
You will have some awesome trail rides with all that torque

The Motard 525 looks like a good buy if you factor in the motard wheels, oversize disc and current wof and rego, all you'd need to do is ride it once the regos been renewed. Getting a non rego trailbike on the road can be a hassle without the correct paperwork , some places can be complete arseholes making it a tiresome job.
use to own one.. awesome bike.. just a dirt bike on road wheels.. tiny as fuck tank, no ignition like previous dude said. But they go hard for what they are.. you wont be dismissed. The ignition sits on the side of the steering tube.. unplug it when you park up and no one will ever know whats up with your bike.. Steering lock on and your away. Not an issue. Honestly people will be staring at your bike more then considering to hop on and have a play. Watch your valves and always do your clearance's and dont be a tight arse with oil.. KTm's have small blocks, use fuck all oil so change it regularly.. and i mean regularly.. talk to your locals at the bike shop theyll give you some decent advise. KTM are booming on the market these days. Love em...
Good advice above with the oil, change it often, sump only holds 1.2L.

I love my 525, it's just got dirt wheels on but still a whole lotta fun in the twisties (with knobs on)
