I used a roll of DOT approved safety reflective tape, white and red. I just cut it down so it was a 5mm wide red strip that runs along the bottom of the number plate, I made sure it says the Dot standard number etc, have never had an issue with it.

Otherwise you can buy a reflector from repco cheap as chips.
Yep. I got pinged for not having a reflector at a VTNZ. They said it would have been alright if the brake light had a reflector inside the housing but very few bikes have this.
I asked about this the other day and someone suggested reflective licence plate bolts like this:

Does anyone know the specific legislation as the the requirements of the reflector's size?

So I bolted my rego holder above the exhaust cause it looked ugly as a F____er on the numberplate & was making holes in my bike cover.
Does this mean I may get a ticket for that?
PS I have saddlebags so you pretty much have to lie down so your at eye level with the exhaust to see the sticker, is this a problem

My wof and rego holders are bolted to the back of the number plate with about 1/2 of each sticking out the bottom of the number plate.

They were a little dirty but you can see they are there and it only takes a couple seconds to check if they're valid or not.

I wrote in with photos and they replied saying "The warden was correct in issuing the tickets .... blah blah blah.. But we will treat this as a warning and no payment is required"

One of my bikes is the same never had an issue with traffic warden but policeman did tell me they should be clear and visible at a traffic stop,in saying that i also have quite an old bike (nickel coated frame chromed guards so dont want to make it ugly attaching stickers to it.)and have never had problems having my wof and reg under the seat attached to batt box.am looking at buying or making a tail tidy for my bike and have wondered this same thing.

I was parking in the Auckland Downtown carpark the other day and saw a warden walking around checking cars/bikes. He got to the bike area and saw a Vespa with a WOF sticking out under the numberplate but he could not find the rego sticker. He asked me to have a look for it too, but I couldn't find it either. The only place both he and I concluded it could be was stuck on the pull out draw/tray that is under the ignition.

I tried to reason with the warden on behalf of the Vespa owner but the guy said in the end rules are rules, and he printed out a $200 fine....
