Wanted to buy

Well, I have finally got some money and am looking at buying my first bike... of sorts. I thought I would start off with a moped, and later on, when I have some more money and if I still enjoy riding, I would get a bigger bike. I'd be weary of the damage the scooter already has. Looks like it has lowsided (fallen on it's side while moving) and sustained most of its damage that way. Could lead to bent forks and other issues.

I was about to mention how it would fail a WOF, then realised scooters don't need them. Still, up to you if you think you can ride without a speedo. A broken speedo cable also means the mileage from when it broke has not been recorded so it could have done substantially more than the owner is claiming.

I guess as a simple commuter it will work fine.

Lots of advice I can think of but I'm lazy so will only give one suggestion. 35kph uphill sounds like it would be a liability if you needed to move fast to get out of the way of something bigger than you and your scoot. look at 100cc or better.

Sorry, but I don't want a 100cc scooter. The only reason I'm getting a moped is because they are cheap to register, they don't need a warrant, and I can get shot of it when I actually have a bit more money. And, I need to get used to riding and find out whether I really like it before I spend heaps of money. Hence, a 50cc scooter that doesn't cost huge amounts. If I wanted something more than that, I'd go all out and get something like a Yamaha Scorpio.

Your first choice looks really tatty.

It has been pulling a 105Kg load up hills and may have a knackered motor too.

IMO Best avoided
