    200 2 smokers

Just looking at options for my next bike...

    Who makes 200 2 strokes?
Favourite is a Gas Gas Ec200, but im weary about parts availability, Next would come the ktm 200 XC.

    What else is there ?

Have had my Gas Gas (ec250) for a few months and no drama's with parts. If you're used to walking into a dealer & getting instant access to every single part then it will be an issue, but if you do mostly online ordering it's no problem.

Noobi will probably chime in with more info, but common stuff I've had to get have all been easy: brake pads & air filters (Honda CR so no worries there) chain & sprockets easy too. bits4bikes have common items and motoxparts a bit too.

Had a kdx200 before this (still have it) and the use of an exc200 too - I'm quite happy ridding any of them really!
FWIW my local Kawasaki dealer never has any parts I need in stock either, so no change.

The only real choices are the GasGas or KTM a KDX will be hard to find new though not impossible, it would be a toss up between the GasGas or KTM both are equally great bikes talk to your local dealers about spares & parts back up. You may wish to consider a 150 also as there is a bigger choice eg TM, Husky, Husaberg, KTM, big bore YZ & RM 125's etc all with there merits.

    Iv got 2 gasgas'.
I bought both of them because they fitted what I wanted from a bike, not because I set out to get one.
Simply an enduro 2 stroke. That's straight away only the European brands and the KDX.
Had a sit on a KDX, too big and heavy. KTMs are really tall. Husqvarnas are also really tall. GasGas' are quite a bit smaller than KTMs and Huskys.
Got the Gasgas and couldn't be happier on it, im not very tall, can you tell?
Genuine parts aren't a problem for me, I just email my dealer and pay by CC and the stuff turns up. Theres aftermarket for pretty much all the wear items which you can get from any brand dealer.
we may just go where no ones been

From what I can make out its actually 2, the bits for my 08 200 exc are pretty much interchangable between the XC-w.
Both have the wide ratio box but I think the NZ exc is pretty much the XC_W but comes with the lights etc std.
Just getting a Knarly pipe for it as mine is shagged and I'll order the USA exc-w one for the NZ exc from BTO.
Pretty sure they are pretty much same but named differently for each country

What year you aiming for jinxy?? Major revision years where 08 and 2012 I think? Def major chassis revision between the 07 and 08 models.
Although they changed the steering head angle in 09 which was strange for them to do such a big change out of the 3 year cycle.
I was damn lucky mine came with 6 days clamps so already had the 18deg option.

Good Luck mate they are a damn good bike, very under estimated
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

Thanks for the replies Guys, will have to have a closer look at a gas gas ( if I can find one), im short but seat height doesn't really bother me so the KTM will be the most likely candidate.

Ive had several KDX's but not really keen on another, great bikes, but always found the suspension a bit lacking, want something with more MX style suspension.

is the Gas Gas a 6 or 5 speed?

Yep can be hard to find a model to sit on, the Red Baron group are selling GasGas and there's an 09 in there Tauranga store its on Trademe $9700 and its new so a deal could be had.
There's a 011 in the deep south but freighting it up here will be expensive.

this one is cool, its a xc-w so pds rear, xc has a link rear, open cartridge forks, xc has closed, also xc has the machined tripple clamps, so the -w really is a slightly lower spec front end and a pds rear, anyhow im rambling now, here is the link

oh and one last thing, the Euro shop on Barrys point road has a stack of 150xc, and a second hand one for good money, so if a 150 is enough then go look

    6 speed.

Yea, the xcw and the exc are the same basic bike, with the exc having some stuff to make it road legal.
XC is similar but has the suspension from the SX models. When they went to linkages and the new chassis in 2011, the 2012 XCs got those chassis upgrades, wheras the XCW and EXC are still PDS and the pre 2011 chassis.
