That's a bit sick. Guess they will blame it on one of these automatic things but that's not good enough.

I heard about it early this morning and was horrified. Now I've just read the updated story and yep, the motorcyclist has lost a leg but what a gutsy effort hauling himself to "safety". CRIKEY!

So glad the cops caught the F**ker responsible.

I cannot wish enough bad karma on this person for fleeing the scene. FFS! He knew he had just hit someone and possibly killed them.

Hope he goes to jail and gets kneecapped by a couple of Hells Angels. (see? they are good for something)

(Actually I wish a LOT MORE than that on the arsehole...)

A waste of space on the planet.

Sending positive thoughts to the biker

Long-term loss of licence and a few thousand in fines IMO, what a shocker

I was test riding a GSXR1100, (was thinking of trading my GPz) and went pootling out the NW motorway one day, exited at Waterview and found myself heading straight up the arse of some fruitcake woman, with her kids in the back, reversing up the off ramp ....presumably she'd got off at the wrong one. Needless to say she got an earful.

Seems that wrong way on motorway is more common than it seems.
I can affirm that. Many years ago (when still young and single...) I was returning from visiting my bf who was working out at Kingseat at the time. To get back onto the motorway at Papakura to head north (heading back from Hingaia Rd towards town) I ended up heading onto the northbound exit lane by accident. Despite there being no other traffic on the road at that late hour of the night, my heart was in my mouth as I realised what I'd done.
Made me extremely cautious about checking for the appropriate lane and entry/exit ramps after that.

Is there some way of finding out what hospital ward the dude is in? Cos I would really like to pass on my best wishes to him...I don't mean go and visit him but just to let him know that people care...whether it be a card, flowers, Lotto ticket or whatever.

The Media report he is in Middlemore. You could try ringing their reception or try contacting the Herald.

me to i pray for him, and postive thoughts do much more good I hope he has good family to wish him well.

Be nice to send him some good will messages . got to be alot to take onboard more concerned about the victim than the person that did this

To early to judge maybe they from another country who knows . all come out with serious road investagtion

Yes but got to think empty road was unlucky for sure
