From a purely selfish perspective, this is why I love and hate riding bikes in equal measure. I know that any single road user our there can change my life or end it at will, not matter how hard I work at risk management.

In terms of punishment: Don't expect anything too severe. You're allowed to inflict any sort of damage on any other person in NZ from behind the wheel or bars with somethin gclose to impunity.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

This was aweful news to hear on the radio as I drove into work this morning.

Thoughts are with the rider for the best possible recovery and adaption to a whole new life he has to begin - thanks to anothers foolish actions. His whole world has just changed hugely and I wish him all the best. Wonderful news though to hear he survied!!!

The poor bugger had a below knee amp early this morning and is in Middlemore Hosp. I do know which ward he is on and his name but am sure I am not allowed to share this as I work there. For anyone with good intentions of support he would probably not be hard to find.

Having lived with injuries from a drunk on the wrong side of the road for 31 years I do know this chap is going to have a lot of grief and anger to work through for some time to come and would benefit from some biker support.

    That's via the courts/law.

I think a group of bikers with a hack saw ('Saw' style) could give the correct punishment.

My thoughts are with the rider in question, poor bastard

Find a chick who’s just been dumped and comfort her by massaging her shoulders, and soon, she’ll be massaging your prostate.

Fucking hell. I suppose a small silver lining is that it was a below knee chop. There are incredible prosthetics these days, I see that some American soldiers who have lost legs below the knee have been allowed to return to active combat duty in the 'stan. Hopefully this chap can get some awesome gear that will help him return to riding soon.

i hope the rider is as comfortable as possible, i cant begin to imagine what affect it will have on his life.
I also wonder if the driver was in a hurry to get back to the casino to pick up the kids he /she had left in the carpark?
