Finally got my new bike today. Just got imported from japan and arrived in auckland on monday.

Have to wait till next wednesday to get it vinned

So have to just ride it up and down the street for the mean time.

Got everything VINed and sorted out today finally!! So just took her for her first spin. DAMN, that is definately a big step up from the VT250, lol. Provisional top speed of 160, but that is only at about 14 grand and it redlines at 19 grand. So shouldnt have too much trouble hitting the speed limiter at 180 i think.

Now, just need to wear down the last 10mm of tread on each side of the tyre and stay away from cops.

my advice... be wary of new tyres if they're giving you any doubts. don't be afraid to replace them if they're not your cup of tea. I had my new gsxr on its side on the road only a three weeks after getting it and it nearly broke my heart. I'd hate to see ya do the same thing.

Dont worry, i got some Dunlop GPR 70's. Reguarded as the best tyres for my bike. Quite a soft compound etc. But useless for the wet i am assuming.

Think i might go for another ride now. Just need to decide where to go. Dont really know any regular riding routes around new plymouth. But there are lots of twisty farm roads. Just have to watch out for cow shit and gravel.

How did you have the bike imported, and was it cheaper? I know it can be good to import cars but didn't know it was done so much with bikes.

hey nice buy k14!! and i can only offer the same advice as wari, but i dunno about CK's comment :P if it did happen to have the hardest cheng shins in the world on it when you got it its all good experience and will only make you appreciate a good tyre more when you finally get to own one... just gotta learn to ride within the limits of the tyre-or at least thats the advice i was always given by my beloved father-"yes son, this is a continental tyre, bloody expensive when i was racing, i only had one race on it about 13 years ago, you can have it for your CB250...ill just sand the hard outta layer of rubber off with some 80grit, then meths rub it to soften it... good as new" hmm... im not kidding, and it actually does work a bit! but hey, what am i bleating on about, you got the best on your beast.. so enjoy em.
