Pete
90% of all Harleys built are still on the road... The other 10% made it back home...
Ducati... Makeing riders into mechaincs since 1964...
They worked fine the first time for me Pete, I think it's Padmei thats the problem, not your pic posting.

I'd like one of those in my basement Pete if you're making some up.
Would come in real handy out here.
I briefly considered trying to construct one but the only rack and pinion I could find in my junk was a big bronze one from a boat steering
sorry for the slow entry into the thread...(8th day in hospital with my stupid broke-dick leg...bah! - and no, I'm not selling the bike)
I can really see that tool being a fantastic addition to the workshop for aiding the tyre changes. I've got levers, tyre buddys, rim savers, rubber mallet...but I think that tools works well and is clever
So, whats the plan? - buying, fabricated, testing?
...back in the saddle, and getting a little!
I haven't pinched one for years either. I use a very weak soap/water solution. A handy tip is to take small bites with the tyre lever and never go far past vertical. If you drag the lever over too far, you're going to have pinch issues. Oh, and beat the shit out of the opposite side with a rubber hammer to force the tyre down into the well of the rim.
Changing tyres isn't that much of a chore once you have the technique right. In saying that, if I was changing tyres every week, I'd want one of those contraptions.
& I don't have tubesnice tool thow, watching the vid where he was having a bit of trouble at the end is the same as doing it with the levers, if you don't have the bead in the well it's just plain hard work getting the last part on
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down ones life for his friends. (John 15:13)
I have more trouble breaking the bead to get the tyre off, esp. 17" knobbies - getting the tyre back on with a big rubber hammer usually works ok.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Check out the Jay Clark or Doug Schopinsky tyre changing vids. I reckon they sweat less than this guy and they use ordinary levers.
So Pete...are we commissioning you to build the tool, or are you going to prototype it...
I've just watched the video again, and I love its action. For me, I hate scratching my black rims, as this method means I will have more control to simply push it over and prevent the gouging. So I want one...
If you make them, what will your price be?
PS did you see the engineering work of my hospital repaired leg ( I get out tomorrow)... titanium plates, screws, steel pins, steel wire, carbon rods...since you like the mechanical side of things...you'd appreciate how its all hung together.
I posted some pic's on Night Falcons 690 thread here http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...post1130317354
