Cool idea, but I'd have to see someone do a 17" DR rim before I'd commit. You don't just lean on one of those suckers to pop the tyre into the rim well.

Looks like an MX 18 or 19" which are as soft as butter anyway.

    Yer maybe right... but
    stop the vid..have a look..
Theres a 20 or 25:1 ratio there... for every Kg he applys there 20 or 25kgs
of thrust on the tyre... a tyre levers only giveing a 4 or 5:1 ratio..
you apply 4kgs of preasure thats 80 / 100kgs of thrust..

Not worried about taking them off. Putting them on with minimal effort and least chances of damaging the tube and bead is great. It can take me 45mins to get a tyre on

I'd be looking at it being a shed tool normally.

Or a 6 ply Teleborg on any rim..
what a bastard of a job that was
my first & LAST 6 ply tyre...

    Edit...

    I had a play around
    with the Rack & pinion.
    30mm Dia pinion / 16X16 rack..
The rack could be longer.. but I
    used what I had...
The pinion is able to advance the rack 60mm..

So I will get some steel this week & nibble away
    at a few...

I would love one of them. Gotta be so much easier than pinching tubes.
The quiet scares me cause it screams the truth.

    No-pinch tip

    Yeh, 1975, DT360, 1st tyre change- 3 pinches !

Later that decade I read somewhere that you should part-inflate your tube a bit (mouth pressure will suffice)
This means inserting the valve after part-inflation.

This makes the tyre lever slide across your tube if there is any contact.
You don't get that squidgy 'uh-oh' sensation thru the lever as you pinch your tube

'' Please do try it ''.... said the Dilmah man.

    Meh,
I'll stick to the tried and true way.
    ie, skinned knuckles, sweat,and levers.
I'm an ol fashioned kinda guy.
    (and cheap).
