NZ is tame. Pulled once on the bike in 16 years of riding over here. Failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign. Yade yade yah. Arse. In the previous ten years riding in the UK I wouldn't have a clue how many times I was pulled over. Being pulled over for riding a bike was not uncommon, but then neither was bike theft.

I got spoken to 3 times on friday. On the southern m/way.

But that was because I was stopped.

Also once at a check point at 9.55pm when I was on my L. Cop asked why I was going so fast, I told him to get home before my curfew. He laughed and sent me on my way.

Please tell me it was a motorbike cop.

If a car managed to pull you over for filtering, you were doing it wrong.

Twice, once for a huckory number plate (GN250, 6months riding), once for not having my headlight on (Bros650, 7years riding).

    And a few checkpoints too.

Forgot one. Riding on Scenic Drive in Aucks. On my XL185s. With the plate on from my trailer. Cop said the pie dish for a headlight was a nice touch. He told me to get the F home and not let him see me on it again. It was 1984.

I used to ride all over the north shore on this old XL185superfarmer around 84/85. Local traffic cop used to laugh his ass off when he saw me. The police wanted me to stop once or twice though.

DT 175 in the 80s three times. Two in two days ($25 instant fine) for not displaying a wof. One for speeding.

1991. Gixxer 750, cop stopped me at traffic lights to have a chat and try to get me to admit to exceessive speed as he couldn't get a reading. Didn't give him a figure, but was just under 180kmhr. Gave me a safety talk and we chatted on the roadside for a while and I rode away with no ticket. He was a nice guy but not very observant cos the bike had no reg or wof. Since then nothing on the bike.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

which is surprising given the bill i ignorantly racked up in four wheels...

the police are out there doing their job. that job is policy enforcement. they are not actually taught law, nor even a lot of the policy they are supposed to enforce, so they do what they're trained to do: collect revenue.
Sorry to have to disagree, but I disagree.
