Screw that! Just got myself a new bike, next step was to replace my 5 year old gear with some stuff that keeps water out. For me it's:
[sitting in my heated car with the radio for 30min + 10min walk with umbrella] vs [riding bike in rain for 10min + taking wet gear off in work car park]
Bike still wins!
Put it away? I just bought the damn thing :P
needs tires and a battery thoughany winter sales to look forward to?

Rego is about to run out, and WOF is due, but bike will be my means of transport just like last year, I just hope I dont have to ride in the snow again, It was an interesting experience, but when your at work and its been snowing for at least 6 hours prior to you leaving, You just feel miserable when you feel the cold hit your nut sack when you sit on the bike.
My commute is quicker in the car than bike. Not too many cars on the road at 5am and by the time I get my gear sorted I would be half way there in the car.
Hope to do some weekend rides once the partners bike is all fixed up.
Put away for the winter?? No way.
I'd hate to have to throw away some worn out used gear only to have brand new liners still sitting in the closet!! I ride as much in winter as I do in summer. A naked for the summer and a faired bike for the winter
Hmm I guess that means that I do hibernate one for the winter
Yeah, I am going to put it away in case it gets a bit nippy. Or it rains a tad. Or it is windy. Or too sunny. Or too cloudy. Or the wrong colour sky.
Not.
There is just as much fun to be had in winter as there is in summer. Like Jantar said, I reckon on five to ten days a year where it is physically not possible for me to either get down my drive or get on the local roads as far as the beginning of the motorway. And if I do have such a complete brain spasm that I get on the ugly bus I can guarantee that some dude on a sports bike will blat past us somewhere making me feel like I should have had a HTFU pill with my coco pops.
Geez, not riding your bike in winter is like having a beautiful girlfriend and not rooting her because she's too cold and wet
Take them out an ride em hard and fast!!!![]()
I love riding when its cold and I have my nice warm gear on. And riding in the rain can be pretty good too if you have good wet weather gear.
Plus its my only transport so that or a week on the bus each day.
Never in the field of human conflict has so much been owed to so few by so many cheese eating surrender monkeys.
(Winston Churchill on the French.)
Plus your likely to get better riding in this winter after all the rain we had in summer so I plan to actually ride even more this winter
There is no way I could put my bike into hibernation - It comes down to the health and safety of others. I am a moody bitch at the best of times ... but not getting the minimum of a weekly ride in? Well its just not wise.
No body move... I dropped my brain
And Que the 'parody' of nights in white satin
Rides in white snowflakes,
never reaching the end,
knees are so stiff now
they're refusing to bend,
so many teardrops,
wiped from eyes before.
feet are so frozen
cant feel anymore.
coz its winter,
yes its winter..
ohhhh I riiiide in winter.
gazed at by people, some in bus stands
just what Im going through, they cant understand
some try to tell me, cars are warmer my friend
god Im so frozen, my fingers wont bend
coz its winter.... etc etc
