Ah yes, shades of the old Yamaha YDS-3 250. Also, the oil pump and rev-counter stoppped working when you pulled the clutch in, so sitting there at the lights for a while in gear revving up produced nasty things to pistons..

    Cheers

The owners manual is crap for these bikes. Written by some Under paid guy from Thailand, with a poor grasp of English. It even contradicts it's self in places.

I had a RG150. Used to run on 91 fine. Both on the street and the Race track.

Also had a similar problem with the KR1 250sp when I got it. A Bitch to start sometimes. Changed from Ave gas, to 96, to 91. Normally started easily on 91. (91 being a faster burning fuel, effectively changed the combustion timing) (lots been written about octane : Do a site search; lets not get into that again here!)

Then again, it could be running rich as they say.

PS. Time to change your profile pic.

I found when I first got my 2 smoker i had inadvertently left the choke on just a fraction causing it to die when I stoped at intersections etc and would be a real b@stard to start- had to hold throttle open to start.
Make sure choke is fully off before you ride.
Party hard but keep it clean.

thanks people for all the replys, it seems i will try different fuel for a start, if that doesn't help then i will fiddle with the idle screw, and if that still doesn't cure it, i just won't stall

WT, do i need to buy two new plugs then?
    Its to rich.
ie the fuel levels to high,or the carb needle and seat are worn , leaking ...or airfilter is badly blocked .

Japanese bike are designed to run on 91?? unleaded ie the cheap stuff we call it regular here, the higher octanes can tend to cause could fouling, ie deposits on the plug causes a waywould spark

Ps doesnt hurt to put a new Plug in ( a number up or down wont make much of a diff ,

You've said a lot Frosty. I must read all of your posts again!
Definitely all the time while riding or doing maintenance, it's like I've got a little parrot on my shoulder saying Frosty said this and that.
    Good on you Frosty!
You're making better bikers out of us many junior riders.
And good on all the other KB members, collectively we're all getting better as most questions and answers get answered!

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I also have some RG fuel/spark questions.

I've been putting high octane in it recently, and found that it has a weeny bit more get up and go, but also more of a propensity to bog down ie. if I'm not careful about slipping the clutch taking off.

What is The Word about fuel for RG150s?

Could it be helped by replacing the plug? I think the previous owner(s?) was a bit of a lazy bastard when it came to maintainence, and the plugs likely fouled to fuck.

Is there a good plug recommended for RGs? (and how much am I looking at lol?)
