    The not-so-new giveway rule changes

Just now, I was at the top of the T intersection, trying to turn right,, used an old rule and did not give a way to the car turning left.
The guy in the cage seemed to not even know what was wrong in that situation, well ,, I didn't either..

be careful out there people.. I think its the phase where everyone kind of stops concentrating on the new rules and relax a bit and without even knowing the old habit is kicking back in..

I blame the lack of publicity for the ignorant that aren't aware of the change in the rules ...

Half the people I see don't even realize that the rule has changed and continue to follow the old rules.

To be honest, I have driven over 10,000km since the rule change and haven't encountered a single person using the old rules.

Although I remember a rule change came out about 5 years ago, that vehicles have to indicate left when exiting a round about. I still see 2 or 3 cars a day indicating right, getting into the round about then indicating left to exit. I want to be a cop just so I can give these retards a ticket.

Here's the rule I'm talking about.
If you are going 'straight' through a roundabout:

don't signal as you come up to the roundabout
signal left as you pass the exit before the one you wish to take. At some small roundabouts it may not be possible to give three seconds warning, but it is courteous to give as much indication as you can.
Also found it weird the rode code mentioned the word "courteous"

I hate people more who indicate left *after* leaving the roundabout >

It wasn't really a change, it just got publicised.

(And the worst ones are those who indicste right on entrance, and keep the right indicator on, when exiting opposite their entrance).

We have a few roundabouts in Tawa, and I often follow a car through two or three, and they indicate differently in each one. e.g. Sometimes signaling their exit, and sometimes not. It's those drivers that make me wonder what they are thinking; as they are not simply wrong, and doing the wrong thing consistently - they are just random. That's scary.

That's right, they implemented that failure to do so, was punishable by demerits as of 5 or so years back. However that was the rule since before then.

    New rule, old rule

There is no law against being courteous and choosing to give way to the car turning right , even though you do have the legal right of way.

Particularly if the car you are giving way to is being driven by a Hot Chick

I get the odd person doing just that "not because I'm a hot chick" but because their stupid.
I just sit there in the truck waiting until the stupid buggers wake up.
If we had an entrapment law in NZ,,,that would be a perfect example,,,I could just hear the cop bleating on about it now,,,fuck that.
I don't knowingly break the law now so I'm not going to for some clown that doesn't understand the law an tries to use me as their excuse.

I feel safe and secure knowing y'all are perfect road users in a sea of ignorance and stupidity (OP excepted who admitted to being GASP only human)
