    hmmm.....

Looks like I will have to find another bike.....

Hey - how much faster or better handling is ol 911 compared to mella yella...

And if they were both stock (or you were allowed MINOR-MINOR modifications)

which would you pick - ZXR or SV?

When i left the guys house and was just riding in the residentials it was fine, and cruising it was fine, but as soon as i put the pace on it didnt feel quite so comfy... possibly because i take a while to get tuned into bikes properly (with the exception of the CBR/ZXR) Possibly if i had taken it for a 100km ride or something then i would have liked it more, been more relaxed, but at first feel it does seem like a big jump.

Also from what i have seen anyway the younger members i regard as fast riders (TS, MR, KK, Affman etc) stepped from 250s to 400s and felt comfortable their before stepping up to the 600's with the exception of MR perhaps (im not sure of his story).

Way i see it i would rather take it a step at a time. All the bike shop ppl have said about the jumps they have taken... and as i am sometimes a slow learner i will benefit more from incremental (sp) steps than just going "oh yeah baby give me a 750 homologation race bike anyday" - i like riding, i really enjoy it, but i cant if im dead

as for the old guy on the BRONZ course.... the blackbird is a sports tourer like the ZZR1200 and busa, yes they are fast when you want them to be, but they are also able to used purely for cruising too, im sure he aint a knee down rider...

its like with my 750.... on my 250's / 400 / SV650... you can aim the bike and then wait for it to get there.... but the 750 is "supposed" to have the same power as the SV650 up to 7'000rpm.... however it is so much faster in getting there (revs out faster)... its not funny. Its more like aim, gas it and then your mind catchs up.... hence there is lots of learning / adjustments for me... misjudgeing the speed is probly one reason that I send the 750 down the road after owning it for 3 weeks.

Also the riding techniques are quite different than the SV.... I think its from the bike setup and twin / multi thing.... (comments welcome)

edit: is it the 98 on trademe fo $6k buy now? how bad is the bin damage?
any other observations about the overall state of it?

It may not seem like much to all you 600 and 1000 riders out there but jumping from a 250 with 40hp to a 120hp Race Spec bike is quite an experience.

The fact that it did 160 in 2nd without straining was enough to put me in my place, i took it through a few twisties but was having trouble judging speeds etc so just took it easy.

Compared to the GSXR750 (94) i rode last weekend it pulled a lot harder and was also considerably easier to handle at all speeds.

So the final decision is that i will be finding an intermediate bike for the mean time. Probably a ZXR400 or similar or possibly a 600 Tourer like the GSF or hornet.

I do still really love the bike for its style and am in awe of its power. For the better of my own life i think its best to wait a bit longer and get some more experience stepping up through the power, personally a 3x jump in power is a bit much for me. To all you guys n girls riding the 600/750/1000+cc road/race bikes i salute you... that shit aint easy
    PUSSYYYYYYYYYYY!

what if the sun wsucked the moon out of orbit an into the earth tomorrow an everyone died, would you be happy with your decision?>

bike is still for sale, he wants 6k... all cracks have been repaired but there is still some minor scratching etc, not as tidy as i was expecting.. smoked a bit on warmup but then cleared out and no probs when riding it.

Mikey you fuck, get a real bike.... i bet if you throttled this beast it would give you a fright too. Least im not compensating like you.

Hey alex, would love a VFR... i like them a lot, just my friend is a mechanic and he hates them and charges accordingly.

That is quite a huge step and good on you for being mature enough to know that it is too much bike after comming straight from a 250 and be able to admit it. Good on ya man!

Good luck with finding a ZXR400 or another 600.

If you go for it becarefull with getting it VINed. Lot of work that. Also it not having one already could be dodgy but just as lilely not. Certainly looks nice.

dont you know my story? my ZXR arrived in boxes... lapsed rego. I've done it all before... i know what they look for.

BTW my bike is actually illegal and shouldnt have passed the vin... i did it with no passenger pegs and also the steering stopper has broken off.
