300 2 banger in MX1? Maico thinks so
Just read Maico Motorcycles latest post on FB:
Less is More.
A 300cc two stroke will be joining the model range line up for next year.
This has been something we have been working on for a while and with more organizations around the world accepting a 300 two stroke running in the M.X.1. class against the 450 four strokes we feel this is the right way to go.
We are unsure at the moment as to whether to keep the 320 motor as an option for those who, for whatever reason may prefer, it but with the work we have put into the development of the incredible 380 we feel as though the performance difference between a 300 an 380 may be more of an advantage and allow greater flexibility in sales and competition especially for those who want to run a 380 in preference to a 500 in open class events.
Our current view is that the 320 is superbly suited to the Road going Enduro and Supermoto (Neil Berry has loved his time on the 320 Enduro) and may well be worth keeping in the production line up for these two models, and listing as an option across the range.
Not something I've ever heard of but apparently 300 2T's are being allowed in MX1. I'm of the opinion that that is good and if I had it my way MX1 would be open to any machine and then we'd really find out what the optimum displacement/aspiration is.
