Oh, and around 250 in a cage (351 powered Cortina)
You would be disappointed if you tried a real sprint.
A mates 636 read over 390 but was just shy of 260. That sort of error is fairly typical.
Not many bikes, including Hyabusa and ZX14's, crack a genuine 3 hundie at a sprint on NZ roads.

Speed to me is relative but a memorable event was about 135k on a French autoroute which isn't that much for there but the cars were nose to tail doing 70k and there were some 25,000 French bikers helping me along

1984 GSX1100 - had a top speed of about 240.. redlined from drury to collision x-roads (now a round about on old gt sth road) so I dont really know.. the speedo cable broke somewhere along the line..

Touched 160k twice on the Bandit a couple of years ago. First out of curiousity on a straight bit of road somewhere on the Wanaka side of the Lindis Pass to see what 160k felt like. Second time by accident a couple of days later at the end of an overtaking manouever on the straight headng north out of Twizel. Buttoned off pretty quick on both occasions. Things happen too quick at that speed for this nana.

Oh, many years ago in a car between Lake Pukaki and Dog Kennel Road ... 192k but I was young and stupid. Well actually, not that young (30?) but stupid because of A) the speed, and B) it was a company vehicle.

I'm usually pretty well behaved though as I generally have Mrs Oakie as pillion on the open road. The above instances I was alone.
