Considering that a vast majority of frieght transport in New Zealand is done by "Truck and Trailer" This is pretty much a kick in the guts to alot of these companies.

Just another rip off. We have a van to tow our horse float and rego fees are higher than a car because vans "are commercial vehicles" and therefore "do more Km's" and therefore "are higher risk". But don't I pay taxes including acc in my diesel bills?

The next Ning they'll announce is that old ruc certs are invalid. Just like they did a few years ago when they made it that you had to round up to next weight category eg 1300kgs meant 2000kg instead of 1000kg

Just more tax to fuck us all over - when's the revolution??

I've got a Diesel Vannett 596$ per year 457$ of it ACC levy My M8 has a mirror Image 1 with petrol motor 280-290$ per year.
Diesel vans go slower therefore increasing your chances of survival in a crash & becoming a burden on the state is the only way I see it.

    just stop paying the fuckers.

you whinge along, but noone has a gun to your head, forcing you down there to extort money from you...

i find it odd, when they mention the cost for the "service" of registration.
like you benefit from that service?

the registrar has a legislated obligation to keep a register of motor vehicles. so why the fuck should you have to pay him to do his job?

There's more house buses that are going to be screwed too as alot of the bigger busses are capabile gvm of say 16-18 tonne but only run a 6-8 tonne sticker cos they dont go over that with couple of people and gear but are now going to get stung for miles for the gvm of 16-18 tonne.

My mate tried this and got arrested for not accepting the fine. Now he has been ordered to register his bike by a judge, which has cost him a lot due to the full safety inspection.

well. my guess is that's he's some kind of government employee. so. the government.

as it stands, what with them not actually making any money, just taking it., that would make him a public servant. i'd say 30, 000 $ salary would see him right. (nearly 3 times the unemployment benefit!!)

but of course, being some back bench knob-jockey politician entitles you to 50k +, and i can almost guarantee their own "rego" and "vehicle licensing" isn't coming off their bottom line.

Due to the fact that bikes use significantly less petrol per KM than the average car, we actually kind of win when petrol prices are raised for everyone.
