To be honest i know little of the problem on a ZX but my advice as the long time owner of a bike that did suffer some issues re cracks/frame would be to go to a Kawasaki forum and get the real story mate, there might be and issue there might not but as i found out years back on general bike forums you get a whole lotta old wives tales and lots of "my brothers best mates best mate had one and blah blah blah...".On a bike specific forum you generally get the facts good and bad.

To my knowledge there was no official re-call, but if you had one and the frame cracked (if you're the original owner and the bike is mint/unmodded) you can get a claim with Kawasaki.
There were a few threads on the ZXforums I think and several elsewhere.

I'd suggest you ring your local stealership and have a chat.

I thought the earlier fuel injected gixxers had the splitting headstock from the chassis problem. few vids on you tube of wheelies coming down and the front end detaching from the rest of the chassis

yep zx10's crack frames & swingarms. I lot depends on the previous owners riding habits wheelies ect, but I have seen pampered zx10's with cracks as well. have a look on Google to see what sort of problem this is as it happens more often than kawasaki would like to let on.

It's very common around the top engine mounts, the later ZX10s all had gusseted mounts or something of the sort and they don't crack. They tend to crack along the welds (funny, my ZZR did when I flipped it)

I was never aware of any issues with cracked frames, or recalls when I owned my 04.

This is probably the forum to ask: http://www.zx-10r.net/

yea tht zx forum site had a few peoples tales and some pictures of where it happens. most casses were under 10-15k miles, so wuld it be safe to say tht at 32000kms if it hasnt crackd yet its one of the good 1s

lol that's one way of looking at it...
Check very, very carefully, any signs off paint texture changes and sanding marks will indicate it's either been fixed, or hidden. Chances are the weld won't be quite as pretty if it has been fixed, only problem there is Kawsaki never seemed to have the prettiest welds in the first place.

If the bike's been dropped at some stage and it hasn't cracked, I would say it's a good one.

NO ! NO NO NO NO NO !!

It may be one trip to the dairy away from snapping in half.

Crack testing is more than just having a quick look after a few beers.
