What a shocker of a test. Some bikes had full systems, Power Commander and Q/S fitted while others were absolutely bog stock. Laugh all ya like at the Duc but fitting a full exhaust and not being able to tune for it is just bollocks, the poor thing was probably slower than stock. The BMW and MV were straight off the showroom floor with not a single mod whereas your Kwaka had a slip on (probably removing the cat), PCV and Q/S installed. So lob 7-8kg's back on the ZX10, subtract 7 or 8hp and how would things look?

I used to follow their tests, but I'm sadly disappointed in the process they've followed here. If that's how they set up the bikes prior, I'm not suprised they couldn't find a good set up on the Duc.
Don't forget the MV was having fueling issues, yet still posted 171rwhp, in anyones books that's a properly strong power fihure from a bone stock bike running, as one expects Italian bikes to run...wrong.

A good read nonetheless, but flawed in many areas.

You must be an MV or R1 owner

ZX10 certainly performs really well...but fark me...I think that the front of it is UGLY!

Agreed us readers want a fair comparison and you have to wonder why these multi-bike comparisons throw up different results from mag to mag?
    But I see on p1 the M_C testers did offer all the bike suppliers the chance to make selected mods;
" allowing each bike this year to be fitted with an aftermarket exhaust system, fuel-injection tuning module and quick-shifter. After all, those are the most popular upgrades track junkies do to their machines. Just because we opened the door to play by these rules, to our surprise, there were a few OEM’s who chose not to make these changes. Would it hurt their chances?"

Yeah thats true. Superbike-USA really slided down in a couple last years. By modding the ZX10R they were trying to get it close to EURO spec model. US ZX-10Rs are heavily restricted at the top, a simple $200 ECU reflash will give you additional 30-35RWHP in the US, the difference is MASSIVE. In EURO ZX-10R has even more top end then the BMW, but BMW overall has a better power curve in low end - mid end.

On top of everything they also have the most retarded grading system in the world.

Going by their table Max Lean Able is of the SAME significance as the FASTEST LAP. And their riders really talk about of their asses.

U can pay for PR to journos, but you can never buy the top time unless the bike is seriously capable.

Ive head an oil burning 08 for a few years, and I recon it has the best, most precise handling of any bike Ive readen.
If the engine in that thing was at least moderately reliable I would have kept it.

That said, Im glad that Ive ended up with a ZX-10R. In my opinion it is overall a better bike then a honda.

Here is a test from Motor Trend (Motor Cyclists).

It is MUCH more detailed as the one on superbike-usa.

Always interesting as a read, but, it comes down to, for most people, which one suits ME best for the road - a bit like helmets - most are good, but some are gooder than others for a particular shaped head - so too, sports bikes. I'd prefer a Bimota Tesi 3D over all of them, but then, I'm weird like that. (and slow)

I really like that bike too. But Ive heard that owners end up pushing them more then riding. Not a very reliable bike. It also doesnt have a slipper clutch, not a massive deal, and it can be changed\upgraded, but since they source drive train components from ducati, why the hell they opted out for a cheaper clutch? Maybe some other components on the bimotas are not as top notch as they want people to believe.

I just brought one of these off TM because it seemed good value for a lateish model sport bike ($7.5k) ???http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=492013037

Cheaper than the gixers/cbrr etc.....but time will tell if its good value....even if I only win a pissing contest at the pub with it...

oh ....and I know I will never use it anywhere near to its potential, but the bit I do use will be fun....

Talking of ZX10's not sure if this has been posted before, but I got emailed the link today. Pretty damn impressive....

Compare this time to what I think may still be the fastest car time around here (may have been bettered by now as this was two years ago) at 6.47.50 which was the Pagani Zonda R a circa $2 million supercar!
