So who is putting their bike away for winter?

Yes, on Monday 21st my Reg runs out and I am going to put it on 3 mnth hold. Will rego it towards end of August, just in time for Cold Kiwi. Weather is too crap to be bothering with riding it. Might as well save coin and make sure it is in ship shape in 3 mnths.

So, who else is hybernating this winter?
I've spent my money on bikes, booze and babes. The rest I've wasted....

No way! Despite the dreaded expenses my bike is my sanity. Driving the cage just doesn't cut it. Even on shit days I enjoy the ride to work far more than the drive. Besides cant be shit ALL the time

You mean license hibernation, or actual hibernation? I certainly scale back on the riding in the winter, the luxury of being able to work (or not) from home helps, and less riding is less risk of getting caught for no rego...

Put the bike away just because its winter? That certainly doesn't make any sense.

I'm down in Central Otago where it gets much colder than the waikato and last year there where only 8 days that I decided it was too cold to ride to work.

I road home 11pm last night in the rain on a bike with 16" apes, no front fender, and a suicide shifter.

So no.. my bikes don't and wont go away this winter.

To clear things up a bit

Officially Bike and Rego is going into hybernation mode for winter

Unoficially bike will be riden if the weather is not too shite.
Being older and wiser I don't do silly stuff on the roads anymore so chances of getting pulled over for rego are less. Unless I bin it or get taken out, but then again we have to have few risks to make life interresting.

This'll be my first winter, so I'll just go through it and figure if it's worth it...

If my insurance company ever pulls finger and sorts their shit out. I would like to ride through as it beats a car anyday, thing is I don't have a car, so maybe that makes my decision easier? :P

Pffffft. I may have sold my car so that means it will be one of the bikes everyday, all winter long. Marvelous!

Shame we get nothing more treacherous than a bit of rain & wind round my parts. Some snow would be good on the trailie.....
