How compatible are Honda GB400 and GB500 engine and kick-starter unit?

Hi, I'm looking for a new kick starter gear unit for my Honda GB400. I've located a GB500 unit in the States. Does ANYONE know if they are compatible?

This is a link to Mr Motorcycles in the States showing the GB500 spindle, gear etc
    http://www.mrcycles.com/fiche_sectio...89&fveh=124746

I have a GB500 PDF service manual but can't find any info of the GB400 kick-starter unit.
    Cheers

simple google part number, although this might well only include the american market bikes so doesn't mena it wont fit the 400.
Best bet, try local Econohonda, get one through them that's their specialty

    GB400/500s

    Hi PKMc
I owned a GB400 for years (now sold) but remember noting how many differences there were between the 400 and 500. The 500 is not a bored out 400. However, this doesn't mean the kickstarts are different.

I assume you are aware that the GBs were only sold in Japan and here under that label and dress. Honda marketed a butchered version elsewhere as the XBR400 and (probably) 500. I assume if you can source parts from the US they are for the XBR?
    Cheers

I have just found out that they have removed the word gullible from the dictionary
