    Honda gl145

    hi guys. i need a workshop manual for a honda gl145. anyone got one they would be willing to sell? i hunted online and cant find one.

    also, anyone know which levers and clutch cables would be suited for it?

    What would you like to know? I've pulled mine apart a few times and even managed to put it back together again. I think I was running off an old XL work book as they are very similar engines.

    Mines off the road at the moment due to rust in the front rim. I can put a screw driver through the damn thing

    Thanks for the reply. Its not going into gear. ive took off the clutch case cover and there was not much oil in there. how do i tell if the clutch is knackered? how do i take the clutch plates out? it needs new lights right around so i need a wiring diagram as many of the connectors are missing, or come adrift.

    cant seem to find a oil filter anywere. it also needs new pads, a total overhaul really. i bought it for 20 bucks. engine runs and brakes work, cosmetically prety good but wont go into gear. so i need to know A LOT!

    Im no mechanic but i can do pretty much most job with a workshop manual. so its a learning tool for me really. hopefully i can get it running properly.

    Well this is where I want to ask you if you want to part the bike out because I'd be seriously interested in buying several items from you

    What sort of sound does it make when you try to put it into gear? Can you put the bike in gear when it's not running? When you pull on the clutch lever, does it feel like your pulling on anything? I didn't really deal much with the gear box and clutch, so I'm not gonna be much help there. But my guess is it's not the clutch, its the gearbox that might hold the issue there.

    There is no oil filter on this bike. Just a small screen behind the oil bung.

    As far as wiring the lights up and getting a wiring diagram, you could just replace one wire at a time. That way you'd know exactly where each one goes. I'll have a hunt through my download folder and see if I can find the XL book i used. Not sure if it had a wiring diagram though.

    Brake pads? Take them into a brake repair shop and as them to reline the existing pads/shoes.

    it doesnt make any noise when trying to put it into gear apart from the click of the lever going down. the engine has no apparent effect on it from the gear change, there is no difference to the tension on the back wheel at all.

    i dont want to part it out as its a mechanical learning tool for me. i dont wanna strip down my 'proper bike'.

    any help wuold be great thanks

    You might be lucky and find the clutch is just not engaging. You really kinda need to know what you're looking at, but if you take all the tension off the cable with the adjusters you might find it starts gaining drive.

    From memory the cable just goes straight to an arm that actuates the clutch directly, so if the cable trick don't work, just pull the clutch cover off and have a look.

    Those motors and wiring looms are simple as all hell, if you only wanna learn from it, start pulling stuff off till you find an issue. Then fix it.

    they were built in Thailand but imported new by Honda nz

    Get a manual from your friendly honda dealer

    if you are anywhere near chch i can put you in touch with a guy who rebuilds them in his sleep

    ok, so i dont really know what im looking at with the clutch, but if i can describe it here goes

    the cable attaches to the 'arm' that goes into the clutch housing. inside the housing is a long cylinder that spins when the cable is pulled. on the cylinder is a small hole that looks like it should match up with somthing on the clutch basket?. so when the cable tension is pulled on, the hole moves round the axis of the cylinder. there does not appear to be anything that could stick out of where the clutch plates are that would fit into this hole.?



    ive searched for info on this and cant find anything. i can get a manaul for 70 bucks which seems expensive to me.

    what do ya reckon guys?

    very similar engine to the XR200

    get a manual for that and you will be half way there

    dont fuck with it unless you know what you are doing

    a manual will help a lot.

    ok, again, this is a learning tool for me, to get it running. i am not going to part it out or scrap it seeing as i have hardly started. thanks anyway.

    XL125s manual

    There is an XL125S manual on the web in pdf form.
    Have a google. I can put a 1970 xl100/cb100 manual on dropbox if you'd like that, there's very little difference from the gl145
