    Arrow Hand signal?

Was cruising along yesterday and got stuck behind a bit of traffic ...fortunately...as there was a cop around the next bend.
After a couple of corners I continued *slightly* over the limit when I saw a couple of bikes blasting towards me.
Problem was I didn't have time to flash m'light or anything to warn them of the tax collector ahead.
Is there a hand signal or whatever for these situations that most riders know of? Yeah I know sounds stupid but I know I'd appreciate it if I had warning.
    Advice please....

Waving your arm/hand in the universial signal of slow down would have worked, palm down with arm out to your side, wave up and down
There is no dark side of the moon, really, as a matter of fact. Its all dark...

There have been other threads on here on this subject. Personally, I think hand above head, finger pointed upwards, drawing a circle in the air is understood. I was given that signal once (Helpfully) and I understood right away.

Hand horizontal to the ground moving up and down means 'slow down', which isn't quite the same as 'police' :-).

You also could be mistaken for 'my hands are sore please kiss them better'. Which isn't what you want if the other bikes are Harleys.

I sometimes get the slowdown wave - normally by old people with angry faces. Normally end up chopping down a couple gears and letting it rip. Not sure what I'll do if a biker did that

With your hands on the handlebars already I thought it'd be easier to flash the light than to lift it and wave morse code. Not that you did say you had your hand on the bars, but just in case...

For a Cop I do the Arm-up-with-index-finger-pointed-upward-while-moving-arm-in-a-circular-motion (to represent the cop's flashing top lights). Most people get it.

Camera's I follow the above then make a motion with my hand in front of helmet as if I had a camera in my hand and that I was taking a picture. Not sure other drives get the "Camera" bit, but they still get the "cop" bit.

PS: Signals is a good KB thread relating to this

As the rider in black says
"For a Cop I do the Arm-up-with-index-finger-pointed-upward-while-moving-arm-in-a-circular-motion (to represent the cop's flashing top lights). Most people get it."

This I feel is ok for other bikes passing you going the same way. If i see the ol'bill in front of me and bikes are behind me this sign definately works. But for bikes on the otherside of the road flashing your lights is a good indication that if you don't slow down "your nicked mate" :slap: might be the next thing that is said to you.

I go for the up and down hand waving bit.
And many thanks to all who have given it to me in the past!
