You left out the bit about wrong partner.
If a spouse would say that today - then stupid hubby for marrying her!
Successful relationships are about sharing and compromise - not ultimatums.

FWIW My mrs has bought me one bike and shared the paperwork on another.

My partner came into our relationship first followed by the bike I owned previously, she has always maintained she would never ask me to give up the bike, she just draws the line at more than one of them at this point in time, and the bike is definitely not allowed in the house, and I can live with those rules at the moment.. we are about to purchase our first home (which incidentally has a sleepout which she has said the bike can live in ) and I suggested that if she promised to let me get a bike as soon as practicable that I would give up the bike to help towards our deposit, she refused saying "you would be unbearable to be around and besides sometimes I just wish you would piss off on your bike anyway, so we would both be losing out if you sell it!"
she doesn't get on the bike with me, she isn't a fan of them, but she watches bike racing with me, she watches bike movies like Fastest and Closer to the Edge etc, she appreciates just how important they are to me and as such she sees the bike as being part of the relationship for the long haul like my drawers full of favourite t-shirts and my dusty cd collection.. I have found someone who understands what a bike means to me on more than a transportation level, and she doesn't even get jealous of the time I spend with my bike or tell me to hurry back, she only asks that I return when I say I am going to.. she's really big on punctuality and doing what you say you will (both difficult lessons for me to learn apparantly)

I do sometimes wonder though, does my bike get jealous of her and would she ask me to choose between her and the missus?

I used to work on the mines in Aussie and plenty of fellas out those ways paid for wives to come over from the Phillipines etc, it's not that uncommon.. and plenty of them rode Harleys so somewhere along the way a choice was gonna be made one way or the other

hmmmmm so what if your husband/wife says that you have too many bikes? Apparently 1 is enough
Do you sell it or keep it? Do you go without other stuff to keep both bikes, just cos you can't decide between the two?
