The Phantom tar spots?...
''Yes the bike has been an insurance write off, but in this case it was due to the tar spatters over the bike, and for the bike to be returned to pre accident condition would need repainting & disassembly / reassembly, which was not viable due to it's value - not due to accident damage. The bike is not & has not been deregistered, and all it will need to go back on the road is a new wof and rego (rego to be paid from the date the new owner takes the bike, no back payments required).''
Then....
'' I will try to get a better picture for you but when photographing the bike outside I could not actually find any noticeable tar spots / stone damage.'''

I pay premiums that allow for taking both my wife and I taking our bikes to training and track days at race tracks. We are asked to advise them before we go but that is not essential. Our bikes are both fully covered at such a day, but we must not be racing or have anyone timing us.
I specifically insured with this company for their involvement in insuring older and classic bikes and this was one of the bonuses that came with that insurance. We Pay.
Surely that's OK by you.
You would be surprised how inexpensive it is in actual fact, they cover us and are happy to do so.
30 plus years riding, not one ACC claim or damage claim for me.
3-4 years for the wife, one damage claim.
No ACC Claim.
Her excess was not required to be paid and the insurance company upgraded her to newer and better policy because accident was deemed by Police to be unavoidable and not her fault.
We won't be insuring elsewhere anytime soon.
Can't possibly comment on the ins and outs of this particular case except to say that I'm sure the bike will sell at something approaching market value anyway, as they most often do and I'm not particularly impressed with either the owner for making such a claim nor the insurer for accepting it, but hey it was brand new and now it's not, that what you pay for and I'm guessing that they paid a lot and often for the privilage,.

as for the underlined section - Its incredible, the amount of bikes that are 'crashed' or 'stolen' or 'damaged' by owners that are to fucking lazy, or just plain dishonest to get off their fucking arse and take care of their vehicles - the problem is that unless the insurer can PROVE something - they HAVE to pay out. Im all in favour of these cunts that abuse insurance getting caught out, drawn and quartered - serves them fuckin right, as it drives up the cost of what can already be an expensive cost of riding, especially if you are also reasonable youg, and have a penis, which seem to be large factors in determining risk and cost.
as for the bold part of your post, that I disagree with for a few reasons.
1. the insurer decides if they want to allow trackdays etc under their cover - a large number do not, period.
2. In my own personal experience, i have discovered that what you can learn at a trackday is much more than you might imagine, you learn alot of things that you can absolutely apply to your every day riding, things which can ultimately make you a safer rider - that has to be a good thing considering how many of us riders fuck ourselves up on the road.
3.there is a difference between racing, and a trackday - and typically even the insurers who DO insure you for trackdays will draw the line at racing (usually defined by whether it began with a flag drop or lights from the grid.)

man.. if tar is the only issue.. then id be keen.. bargain really..
Id better take a closer look at my insurance policy, as i use these guys though I did ask them to
sharpen there pencil not so long ago when it was renewal time..
the only time on of my bikes is not covered is in competition use ( night dragwars meremere )
and thats fair enough. for track days my excess goes up but then again ive taken steps
( crash bungs and other shit ) to minimise damage iff i do have a opps..
as for this twat and his tar... hell why did'nt he slow down or take a alternate route?
Easy to say there carburator. Perhaps there was no alternative route. Who knows? Do you???
