He got up and walked away from that - wow. That's impressive.
Not to be a knocker, but it seems to me that the way that impact played out, the jacket had a very small part to play and wouldn't have made much if any difference to any injury outcome (in this particular impact demonstration). The first 75% of contacts were borne by everything other than the jacket. Not a real test IMO. Send him into the back of a truck at 50kph and see if it works.
Political correctness: a doctrine which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd from the clean end.
they had a bit about it with Guy Martin on here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuOYU...ature=g-user-u at about 8 mins in
Because he 'lifted off and up' on impact. Its a skill used for motorcycle frontal impacts and one that should still be taught very good for rear ending vehicles.
This was very survivable even without the jacket. Get him to do it again and put the bike on its side on impact.....
A brave man indeed. He is very lucky he did not break a leg the way he landed on the tarseal. Do I think the jacket helped him? Hmm... the jacket had no impact at the crash, when he somersaulted over the car or when he slammed in to the tarseal. It only had a part as he was sliding at the end of the incident. But any good leather jacket would have had same result.
i did that and landed in a soft bank up a hill lmao
and i think i was going a bit faster too
i certainly flew a bit further
took a day for the pain to kick in
he may be walking straight away but i guarantee hell be sore tomorrow
